Registered 9 years agoHas the Xbox support page always been this bad? Requested a repair, all seemed to work, but the Print Invoice and Print Label buttons don't work, I've not had an email, and when I do a repair status with the number it gave me it says "We are sorry about this. Your order did not go through successfully." even though the other page I have open says "Your repair request has been submitted!". WTF? -

Yes, I keep happening upon loads of stuff on the new xbox.com that is missing, broken or useless. I wouldn't mind the visual rebranding if it worked, I guess, but making it all sort of pretty, AND breaking it, is annoying.
They redid Xbox.com recently.
General consensus:
You can also do the repair request over the phone - I've done it this way in the past and it's not too painful, although it can obviously add to the overall repair time because they send you the labels, I think. -

Registered 3 years agoSo i sent off an Xbox to M$ for repair earlier this week, no complaints really, everythings been smooth so far. I got a message informing me of delay via email, saying they would try and ship me a console and soon as possible.
Also, in case this is useful to anyone looking to complain or find out information about their xbox being repaired then Teleplan is the website of the company that manages the repair centre in prague; one which i have gathered a lot if not most people are having their xbox's sent to.
Hopefully i will have it back by next week some time, currently its arrived at prague, but repair has not started *apparently* -

Registered 7 years agoThat sucks Red. Think it'd work long enough to trade it in somewhere for a new 4GB model and maybe use a couple of memory sticks for storage? If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

Registered 2 years agoMine rroded last week!! a launch 20 gig model. It had one repair a couple of years ago so I basically got 5 years which wasn't bad. It gave me an excuse to get the slim. However the transfer cable didn't transfer everything, so I'm not sure I will trust it again......
Also some of the saves became "unknown games". Maybe I was just unlucky. -

Registered 6 years agoYou can towel trick it for a week or two - the repair turnaround might even be quicker in the new year if the weather improves.
It might not even be completely knackered yet. Unplug everything, plug it back in, and try again.

Registered 6 years agoEither way, given the time of year I just went out and bought a new 360 s :/
Seems nice enough, certainly is quiet too.
Don't like the capacitive buttons though, why do companies insist on putting these shitty touch sensitvie buttons on every device these days?! -

Registered 7 years agoWell..... just switched on my 360 and nothing. Nothing at all. Not powering up. The power supply works as I tested it on an older one I have (which is pretty much useless as the laser is borked). My Elite looks like it is finally dead. Not even an E74 or RRoD as a final flourish.
Which is weird as it was fine this morning...If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

Thats a pisser mate, especially at Crimbo. They really are pieces of shit, I don't think I know a single 360 owner who hasn't had one console die on them. How MS have gotten away without being forced into a product recall I will never understand.

Registered 7 years agoWell it's the third time this baby has done it. It was the E74 this time 2 years ago. This time last year it RRoD'd. Now it is just dead. The MS contact centre isn't open 'til tomorrow but I'm pretty sure this isn't covered in their 3 year warranty. Unless they see that it has been in twice before and possibly do something. Which I doubt. If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

Doesn't sound good. Might be time to fill it with homemade explosives and get some payback.

Putting aside a billion dollars for free repairs / replacements seems to have served them reasonably well.

Registered 7 years agoOk.... it's working now but then I got an E71 error (apparently a dashboard error) then it worked fine. It then RRoD'd and now is again working. I think it definitely needs repairing. If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

Registered 6 years agoSorry to hear that Con - you could always tell the repair centre that it RROD'd so that they repair it free. I had one with an intermittent fault and they repaired it once I told the woman on the phone about the RROD.Fiat Lux

Registered 5 years agoToo much to hope my original White 360 RRODs so I can convince myself to get the slim! Hoping between kinect and fallout:nv plus turning the heating up I can get it to die (second repair from MS bought at launch, now has the fans on high after last repair and is really loud all the time!) -

If it's "expendable" you could try popping it open and taking a few kg of crap out of the fans. And if you hear of a good 360-S price while your old 360 is open... well, it's easy enough for a fan-cleaning toothpick to slip and smash a PCB or two.

you were pushing your luck! you should have traded it in for a 360s when it was working.
