Yeah I'm not a fan. They remind me of one of the background aliens from either ST VI or IV, I can't remember which one but I can see him in my head!

Are they at least still brown? It's the last refuge of the black face actor

They seem to be, although there have been plenty of white Klingons in the past.

    Good.

A race of Metallica roadies never quite did it for me. Still, better than a bunch of Turks in green tabards.

So are we hoping for more 'edgy trek' with added sex scenes in keeping with contemporary television. Or, do we want a more wholesome / intellectual affair?

After seeing 'Arrival' last year I really hope that ST:D follows that type of example. Trek has to be a bastion for reason, hope and wonder.

I think in these troubling times people need something to lift their spirits. But yeah, more in the sense of Arrival rather than Voyager'

I share your love of intelligent understated scifi but I feel it would be prudent to kill that hope stone dead right now, with a claw hammer. This is Star Trek. It's going to be surface-level morality-heavy fluff, probably.

Yeah I'd love something akin to Arrival or Interstellar. Smart sci-fi that deals with big issues etc. No reason it can't be, I wouldn't call Trek "surface level morality" myself. It's tame by today's standards, sure, but it's got to be judged against whatever else was on at the time.

Trek is all about holding up a mirror and telling us it's a future window. Stick to that format and I'm happy.

Yeah, Black Mirror is depressing enough.

Does this mean he won;t be in season two of the mental happy dancing show? Shame.

Anyway, great casting. All of the cast are good so far, most positive thing about the whole thing.

Just got to Enterprise Season 3 - oh err, it's a bit different and in a good way! Driven, ruthless, Archer et al I like. Even Vulcan T'Pol is in on the necessity of their mission.

I wasn't a massive fan of it. It was better than much of what came before I guess. I remember season 4 being better though.

I'm planning on rewatching it all at some point though. I was never really into Enterprise, so my memories of most of the show is pretty 'meh'.

The final series of Enterprise was by far the best.

I can't seem to make up my mind about Season 4. Sometimes I've gone through it and thought it was a bit shit, then I have rewatched it and thought it was decent. One thing I am certain of though is that it isn't nearly as good as season 3.

So is that you making this April Fools joke, or did you read it somewhere else :p

I kid of course. Though he's a decent enough actor, I really can't visualise that. Hopefully it'll be fine. It's not like he has to play it exactly the same way anyway so it'll be interesting to see a different take on the character that's still true to the original.

Ha, sorry Fawkes just saw this. I did read it online - although now I'm wondering if it is an April Fool's! :D

I can't really remember Harry Mudd that well tbh, I'm going to rewatch TOS after I'm done rewatching TNG (2 seasons left). Then I'm going to suck it up and watch Enterprise properly, never watched it fully when it was on.

Anyhoo - Sonequa Martin-Green is now officially announced (I thought she already had been?!). She's first officer on the Discovery and her name is Michael Burnham.

Apparently in the future Michael is a gender-neutral name?

Mudd, God what an awful, annoying character. Almost half as bad as Neelix.

She was, but maybe they didn't want to make too big a fuss as she was in The Walking Dead until the other night.

    @DrStrangelove
Nothing is even half as bad as cunting Neelix.
Apart from possibly when he and Tuvok got merged. The makeup they used on that character made me feel ill
