Yep must agree that American Dad is far better than Family Guy these days. The writing is much better and stronger for not relying on random flashback gags (or "manatee" jokes).

Every Family Guy I've seen recently has spent at least five minutes hanging on a laboured joke that isn't funny in the first place let alone five minutes later.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

The last few new episodes I saw I was disappointed in. Too much focus on sexual innuendos, which gets so old after a while. I'll still watch religiously, though. :p

Yeah 99% of sexual jokes are terrible, no matter the programme.

The latest season of Family Guy has been really poor. The surfin bird episode was good, but the last few have been terrible. The episode "Family Gay" was dreadful. A few years ago, that would have been the one to watch, but they missed on almost every joke.

The latest episode wasn't too bad, but it's just better in comparison to some of the dross that we've had this year. I'm one of the few who thought Family Guy was still good after it came back, but now I finally feel it is on the decline.

Perhaps they're just putting their efforts toward the new Star Wars episodes. They went on a three month break, which is just bizarre for a flagship show such as this. Seth MacFarlane talked about planning a FG movie, they were working on Something, Something, Something Dark Side (ESB parody), and he also has American Dad and The Cleveland Show to work on, so I'd guess resources have been a little stretched recently. It's also been confirmed that they've finished writing the RotJ parody episode.

What's going on with this show then? I defended it back when many people were saying it'd gone shit, but now it's just awful. Really really bad. The OJ episode kind of enforces my theory that they're working on other projects, given that they dedicated a full three and a half minutes to the Conway Twitty song, which is three and a half minutes they don't have to record or animate. Hopefully tonights episode will be better..

Family Guy is dead to me now. Although the first three seasons were indeed excellent.

I hated American Dad the first few times I watched it, but I'm a big convert... I love it now. Yeah it's pretty similar to FG in the way it's set out but the jokes come fast and a lot hit the mark.

As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a ninja.

I still enjoy FG, but I also still enjoy The Simpsons (best show ever) and South Park and SBSP. Some episodes may not be classic, but I have such a warmth for the characters, rather like watching or re-watching any great Uk sit com or seriously unfunny Carry On.

I've stopped watching FG, they keep having to stoop to the 'this isn't funny at all but if we drag it on for a stupid amount of time it might just become funny' approach. That episode with the 5 minute music video pretty much put the nail in the coffin.

American Dad is still going quite well, but having FG pull that sort of shit over and over is a kick in the balls, I saved your ass FG when I purchased the dvd boxset after you got canceled, and this is how you repay me? ;)

Has the Clevleand show started in the US yet. Could be a case of two many irons in too many fires for SM. I have not seen the latest Fam Guy, I think I'm around 10 or so episodes behind. The only scene I remember I really have not liked in any way on FG was the song "Shipoopi" way too long and unfunny.

What about Stewie doing that long dance to get helicopter rental tickets or something? Tooooo long.

I liked when they did the exploding building parody of action films though, that went on a bit long but I found it pretty funny.

I enjoyed the Stevie one you ref. I suppose being objective the one thing FG may do a little too much is allow a joke or song to overstay it's welcome.

The new Star Wars ones will be terrible. The first one they did was an absolute mess and this is coming from a huge FG fan.

There were jokes in it? I must have missed them.

Plus, it has Herbert in it who was only funny, once, for one episode. Ever.

All it did was copy Star Wars and make it worse.

Filth you know I love and respect you but come on man, Herbert has been funny more than once!
I don't think BH was the greatest but as parodies go I thought it did a fine job, some bits were hit n miss. I bought the box set with T-shirt and everything, all MIB of course.

I have also decided people can only comment on Star Wars if they watched it first time around in the cinema, and went out and bought or rather their mummy bought them loads of SW gear, oh and had star wars wall paper in their (my!) bedroom oh and...;)

Are you saying Seth McFarlane is knobbing Eliza Dushka in real life? If that is true I actually fucking detest him for not being funny anymore AND stealing the hottest women in the world away from the rest of us.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.
