Years back in Durham, in the shopping centre, a small kid to his mother.

    'My willy's gone all hard!'

    Legend.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Of course just as priceless was the look on the mum's face. Grabbed the kid and stormed out.
That's too good to be real. But still. :D

Mondaynight I went to see Django unchained with a mate.
After about an hour and a first Carlsberg, my bladder nearly burst so I popped out for a slash and stopped in the shop for a second beer.

There was 1 register open. I get in line. Someone opens a second register and half the line goes over and the original immediately line moves forward 1,5 or 2 meters. The guy in front of me just stands there.
I waited for two, three seconds wondering if he's not in line, in line but didn't notice everyone moved up or what.
Then I decided he's not in line and moved past him to join the back of the queue.

Just at that moment, a girl walks up with a drink she's been fetching. The guy was standing about waiting for her to come back.
(accusingly) "you've just let them roll you didn't you?"
    (defensively) "No"
    (dismissively) "Sure you did"
(seeing an out) "No, it's just they opened a second line, so we can go in that line now"

    Off they went.

Made me momentarily appreciate my single status a bit more.

I'm not sure I understand. How did he get "rolled"?

Also... you left the film after an hour then, to queue for a drink? Is it that bad of a film?

Why would he be queuing for a drink if she's already got them? NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE SAL!

So there was no lavatory in the cinema? You had to go the local shopping precinct in order to take a piss, then popped into the shop?

Or, take a piss in the cinema, then exit the cinema in order to find a shop to buy a beer?

Also did you just buy a second beer, not a second and third, so your mate (is he still watching the film?) can have his second?

I think he lives in one of those hippy countries where beer is legal in cinemas. That bit at least is plausible. The rest is just crumbling under scrutiny...

You can drink beer in the gallery section of Odeon cinemas.

I understand that you can drink beer in some cinemas, but he specifically discusses a "shop". Is it reasonable to call the cinema food and drink area as a "shop"? I am not certain that is allowable. And do these "shops" sell the beer, or do you not need to go to the bar area in the cinema?

    Curiouser and curiouser....

I think we're going to have to conclude that Sal didn't even go to see Django Unchained.

It might be a cinema that sells beer? I went to one in Aberystwyth about six years ago. It was most novel. Still not sure I follow the story aside from that though.

Aaaaah yeah. Forgot you lot live on the island where movie going is still very 20th century.

This was in a multiplex cinema. 14 screens and 2 fairly big "shops" that sell pop corn, nachos, crisps, chocolate, ice cream, candy and drinks. Coke and other soft drinks or beer, cider, wine, sparkling wine, etc.

So I merely left my seat, popped out to the main lobby area to use the toilet and then went into shop for a second beer. Takes 3 minutes all in all or should have, it was 4 or 5 with the queue.

And the guy got "rolled" as in he just stood there gaping as people went past him instead of keeping his place in line. I suspected it might not have been the right terminology. I felt sorry for the guy as I think he stood there gaping as he didn't want to walk off to a new line without the girl and he then got an earful for not being assertive enough to defend his place in the line that he actually gave up to wait for her.

I enjoyed the film. I just have a small bladder. I was bursting to go by then.

Picturehouse cinemas serve beer and let you take it in to the movie with you. If you're going to an Odeon you're doing it wrong (and getting massively ripped off in the process).

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

There's about 20 of them in the UK aren't there? I'd wager for a lot of people it might cost significantly more than going to their local Odeon. :p

(But yes, Odeon cinemas are ridiculously overpriced)

The Eletric in Brum does too. If you sit on the fancy sofas at the back you can even text them during the movie and they bring it to you. Art house posh git cinema FTW.
