I'm with Talk Talk, have been for 2 years and have had zero issues with them.
Pay for an unlimited 40meg connection, and that's exactly what I've got.
I realise I'm in a lucky minority though. From what I can gather, as long as you're on their fibre optic line you shouldn't have many problems.

Just been upgraded to 100mb broadband (yet to see it at the mo), phone and basic tv for about 54. I know there's a better deal out there but I don't want to be tied down to an 18 month contract.

In my experience, Talktalk dns frequently craps out. That shouldn't be dependent on fibre or not, although for the record I'm pretty sure I've used it in a non-FTTC location.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

I've never really had a problem with Talk Talk's broadband itself - just the company behind the service.

The whole 'debt collection' balls-up has really made me think that I'd be better paying whatever it takes to get out of this contract, before moving across to a slightly more 'customer-friendly' company.

edit: unfortunately it does not look as though BE is an option in my area.

I would love free broad beans.

Nope, somehow [my bb provider] and BT cocked things up when my parents moved out and I stayed in my current home. [my bb provider] cancelled the broadband account but I think BT left the equipment in at the exchange, well that's my best guess.

What a difference three years make. O2 are utterly abysmal now, it's been incredibly slow for the last year and they heavily throttle during the evenings. So ignore my posts from a few years ago and avoid them.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

I've just been upgraded to 30 meg with virgin and its only taken a day or so for over 100gbs worth of steam sale downloads, had to buy a router mind you, the superhub is absolutley shite.

What's peoples opinion of BT Infinity? I got a letter this morning and apparently it's available in my area now. It certainly has got me tempted, as my fairly pathetic 3mb could be upgraded to 22.5 with 5.6mb up (!). Is this something exclusive to BT, or can you get the same service through another ISP? It said something about fitting new equipment so assume it's a BT only thing?

20/month for the first 3 months, 26 thereafter. A bit expensive, but I would need the unlimited usage package.

Infinity is awesome. I don't have it yet - am contractually locked in - but my mate gets 80mb and some nuts speed up - 6mb or sommat.

Iplayer streaming HD on 4 or 5 devices around his house.

His PC sometimes has to pause newsgroup binaries, as the goddamn machine can't keep up with all the file work on the drive !!

Never lags. I'm jumping as soon as I can !!

From an ADSL perspective - and I work with 7 or 8 providers at work, BeThere broadband (oddly owned by O2) are absolutely superb for the money.

Have heard bad things about O2 - but when I cancelled BeThere last december, they offered me the next 12 months at half price, and its genuinely unmetered unlike most.

    Recommended.

I used to be with BE and had rock-solid speeds but then got seduced by the promises of MOAR SPEED from Virgin. Have regretted moving ever since.

Slower, patchier, frequent outs and shit customer service. Moving house soon and I'll be back to BE then.

67mb down 15.2mb up sounds right depending on how far you are away from the cabinet.

Got Infinity 2 installed a month or so back. Really close to the cab and exchange so get 75-76 down, 18-19 up. Been pretty awesome so far, though i've had to reset the router and openreach modem a couple of times recently because I all of a sudden started getting 0.9mb down and up? Could've been line maintenance.

Shame there's not much chance of BT rolling out Infinity to rural towns in the next decade :(

That said my 19/2Mb BE line does me for the most part.

What's the ping like on Infinity vs. BE? To be honest, I was pretty happy with the thruput when we got to 2Mb down (though more up would always be appreciated), so roundtrip time is more important to me these days.
