I'm going to grab The Witcher I think when they release this. I'm hoping EG will re-review it with this patch in place.

So was this decent apart from dodgy glitches and load times?

:D at BF2 loading times, I remember that :p

Aspic I have the book, The Last Wish which is the first book about Geralt detailing a few of his early stories. The game came from the character of the books, and the first one has recently been translated to english for the first time. It's what made me want to play the game , so if you want the book i'll happily send it to ya.

The game is meant to be about his life starting out as a Witcher right? I book is several connected stories about his life as a Witcher really. It's much better than I was expecting.

Anyone interested in the book i'll happily to send it to whoever. Even you Hybrid :p

No, it's his life after he loses his memory. He'd been a witcher for a long time.

Is the EE being launched at full-price? The original version is on my Games on Demand service, but it's apparently not being patched to the EE version. But I can't justify £30 or so on what is effectively a patch for a game I already have access to.

It should be the same price as the original as the patch is free, if not, just buy the original and patch it.

Play currently have the original Witcher for £14.99 and the enhanced for £24.99.

The enhanced edition comes with:
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition features premium packaging loaded with value, two new adventures with full voiceover, the D'jinni Adventure Editor, the official soundtrack CD, a 'music inspired by The Witcher' CD, the official game guide, The Witcher short story by Andrzej Sapkowski, a making of DVD with behind the scenes footage and a map of The Witcher's world.

Though I believe the new missions will be included with the patch as well.

There's a few videos of it up here. One of the developers mentions a mid September release so the 19th sounds about right.

I've already got the original edition, but I think I'll buy the Enhanced Edition just to show some love for a great dev team.

Pitty a load of that money will end up in Atari's filthy pockets.

I bought the collector's edition of the original, but I'll be buying the retail EE as well.

Bloody great game.

Hmm might get the patch and restart the game since I'm stuck at some sort of hell hound boss fight for which I seem to be woefully unprepared and unwilling to backtrack several hours for in order to prepare.

Ditto. I finally got past the hellhound boss thing when I was last playing, but lost interest not too far into the town in the next chapter. The EE patch seems as good as time as any to give it a second chance.

Yeah, it took me ages to work out that was what the woman was trying to sell me earlier on. When I finally twigged, I had to find an earlier save to go back to because the game traps you at this point, and ended up backtracking at least 45 minutes to get to where I was before. It kinda soured the experience from then on somewhat.

I'm looking well foward to this, never played the original. After reading the book it got me interested in his world, so this should be good :) Shame I have a million billion other games to play too.

I was thinking about buying this from Steam. But it seems to have disappeared from the site. Not sure what that is all about.

Hm. Started replaying the original, but my chief complaints are still with the gameplay rather than the graphics/bugs. I just feel so unconnected to the world, and even moreso from the combat, didn't get on at all with the slow-click thing. Before I was playing it on a PC that for some reason could only play it adequately on low detail, so figured it was just because of that...buuut it apparently isn't. Ho hum.

Yogi, apparantly Atari & Ubisoft have made their games available only to North Americans on Steam:

And The Witcher has been removed from the UK Steam Store.

Cheers for that.

In the past Steam at least have put a tag line stating the game is only available in North America. Seems they just liked toying with us on this one. Oh well, Crysis Warhead will suffice instead.

The site's taking a right hammering at the moment. This is going to take hours to download. :/
