That last one was just a spin-off. Apparently. This is the real deal.

Is it on the REAL next gen?

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

So, four games in - is it actually a decent game yet, or is it still unplayable tripe?

    Yakuza's always been good!

To be fair I've only played the first, but that was great.

I've never played a Yakuza title (I've never owned a PS2 for a start off) but they always look like I'd really enjoy them.

    What do they play like?

    This.

It's quite hard to describe really. It's got elements from lots of different games in there. Watch some videos of it or just give it a whirl.

EDIT: Actually I'd be cautious of watching videos. The game can go from slow paced chatting to an all-out brawl in a second and it might not show that too well.

I'd call it the best 3D brawler ever made, only that's not saying much, and it's only part of the game; there's a load of other stuff to do in the free-roaming environment. Awesome on toast is probably the best way of describing it.

Hush, God Hand will hear you. :(

Pah, Anyway I'm the real Yakuza.

Neighbour's cat-san learned yesterday that we definitely don't take shit from cats when I totally outstared the sulky little git. He had no choice but to turn tail and walk off in that huffy way that cats do when faced with my unflinching, steely Yakuza gaze.

That's a good point. I prefer Yakuza but God Hand isn't bad :p

Can people stop bumping Yakuza threads now please? I'm already at the peak of anticipation for #2, I have no idea what happens to the brain if it goes beyond that point.

Like an RPG set in a big, bustling city, but when you get into a fight (which happens worryingly often) it goes into an arena-based brawler when you can stamp on faces, stab people and smash people over the head with bicycles.

You can also sleep with women if you charm them enough, and inevitably beat up someone who's hassling them.

Have you ever played Shenmue? It's a bit like that.

    Only better

Shenmue + Streets of Rage = Yakuza.

Though it's not as good as either.

Think I'll try the first one again. Only played it for about an hour, and while I liked it I was playing a ton of other stuff at the time and forgot about it.

That screenshot of the beach setting looks like it has been lifted straight from the film Sonatine.

Which is awesome, this game looks awesome. It's awesome news as far as I'm concerned.

    Awesome.

Is this a PS3 exclusive like the other Yakuza 3?

It will be a significant asset for the console if so (although obviously not in the eyes of the mass market).
