I guess this is the 40k brawler that THQ let slip a little while ago.

You may have to refresh the link a few times, it's straining a bit.

That's a surprise, never heard of it before. This is for sure though - regardless of how generic it most likely will be, it looks bloody awesome beyond words. I'd even get myself a 360 again if it didn't come out on PS3. That Marine is a tank! Must have a loaded die for his saving throw.

The graphics look great, and as much as I have loved Warhammer lately, the combat looks rather lame.

will watch during lunch, but a reskin of gears of war with space marines = humans and Orkz = locust would be cool :D

Looks very nice - do want! Now, if only the rest of the stream wasn't taking forever to run.

Looks good, not too keen on these incessant cinematics that the seem to love.

    Plubs

I want to kick in the cinemaction.

Well done, a new buzzword. Le sigh.

edit - wait... "orchestrate my volley of death"? PLEASE.

All of that camera switching looks annoying, put me off already. It is nice of all the enemies decide to wait for your animation to play before they even attempt to hurt you again though.

Very unimpressed overall, still it is an early demo so I guess there is still hope.

Looks very nice though obviously still needs a lot of work. Overkills look annoying; hopefully that was just one bad example.

Original video reposted on youtube for any other nubs that missed this this morning.

I don't imagine that it'll last particularly long up there.

Looks crud. The constant fnishing move cutscenes, the fact the gun is more useful as a melee weapon or flashlight, the cumbersome, non-existant flow to the combat.

I realise it's a first build, but it's not boding well in the playbility stakes just now. Looks alright though. If a bit Gears.

looks a bit shite really. combat looked dead slow paced and rigid.
  • Deleted user 4 September 2008 20:19:00
Clearly draws a lot of inspiration from Gears of War although the very melee-led action actually seems closer to something like Devil May Cry. The combat system looks a bit clumsy and too heavily reliant on scripted sequences to me, though with these things it's always hard to tell until you get your hands on them. The odds are against them though - most games of this type fail on that point.

There's some promise though - certainly by the standards of other 40k action games, although that's not saying much. Oh, and the word 'cinemaction' needs to go to the same flamey place of death as 'staycation'. Grr.

I can't help but think it looks shit, as someone who's played 40k since 2nd ed. It looks... poor quality, like Fire Warrior.

New trailer on EG:TV, still quietly hopeful.

And I like the way the marines just brace for impact when the nuke goes off :-)

I'm a bit surprised the trailer shows the Ultramarines considering who is doing it you would think it would be another chapter in the Blood Ravens' history.

It does look rather spiffy though.

Well, it's never been officially announced and was not talked about that much

I can imagine that the RPG elements will boil down to loot + skill points

    WANT.

Amazing how the right IP can turn a release into a must have regardless of gameplay. All about getting the feel right.

One thing it's not doing though is a PC version, and Dunn gives the impression that in the same way THQ didn't feel Dawn of War was a good enough fit for console to warrant a port, it doesn't see Space Marine as a game fit for PC. "It's like, if God of War was on the PC, what kind of an experience would that be?" says Dunn. "And I think it's our idea that it wouldn't be the ideal experience. You could probably make it work, but it's not where the beat is and where the strength of the platform is, so instead of washing the game out so it's appropriate for multiple platforms, it's about building the game to the specific platforms that we want."
