Registered 3 years agoA silly, silly question perhaps however, on the start-up page where you view eight of the most popular websites you visit, is there anyway to rearrange them like you could in the old version of Google Chrome...?
Thank you to whoever helps!

Edit;
Scratch that, refreshing is a bit of a pain.

Registered 7 years agoIt's still Safari rendering, of course:
From Appleinsider:
"However, the iPhone version of Chrome is mostly a UI wrapper around Apple's own Webkit platform, as Apple does not allow third-party browsers available in the App Store to have their own rendering or JavaScript engines."
It is rather nice, though, that's for sure.PSN: DonOsito

I used that iCab for months but it's a bit cluttered and clunky. Lots of tiny buttons that you never use littered all over the place. I tend to prefer a cleaner interface on a mobile since I have clumsy fingers. Dolphin would be the best but for some reason it doesn't seem to render the mobile view most of the time. Finally managed to download Chrome and it seems like a keeper.

Registered 10 years agoMain beef is no bookmarks bar. 3 presses to go to a bookmark? Bah.
Might stick with it though, be nice to use the same browser across all my gadgets.

Registered 8 years agoYou have a main bookmarks page though? Seems good to me. Can't say I've ever used a bookmarks bar, but my main requirement for a browser app is a "speeddial" page, which Chrome has. It's the main reason I don't like Safari.
Anyone figured out how to use the tabs from the desktop version?

True, but frequently used bookmarks I can get to with one press with a bar, now it's 3.

Think I'll stick with it though, seamless syncing of tabs between iPad, MacBook, Galaxy Note and old iPhone, plus desktop PC is awesome. Largely why I love the cross platform nature of the Kindle. I can get used to lack of bookmarks bar by changing my usage habits - for reasons of concentration I tend to only keep a few tabs open, so I use the bookmark bar a tonne. I suppose if I start leaving more tabs open I won't notice the annoying three presses so much.

Under your user id in settings make sure Chrome to mobile is set to on, on all devices. Then, press settings-other devices and a tab will open showing what you've got open on those other devices.

Registered 8 years agoTab stacking? Slide the left and right edges to switch tabs or the button on the top right to stack the tabs.
Also 1 button (options) to get to your bookmarks so I count 2 clicks to get to bookmarks. Or keeps your bookmarks page open and just slide to your bookmarks page. Zero clicks and one slide.

Registered 7 years agoIs there anyway to make this less shit, to speed it up in particular? I'm determined to use it instead of Safari so I can sync with my Note and Windows PC but compared to Safari it is bloody slow half the time and very buggy (pages not loading, pages not responding etc.). Same experience on OSX and Windows 7.Pissy pants.

You need to double up you memory and close your EG tab every few hours. I dont know what shit is running in the background on this site but when you notice chrome running slowly open task manager/activity monitor.
There will be a chrome process for every tab you have open. Notice the one taking up near 1gb. Close your EG tab and, Hey presto, the system is now responsive.---------------------------------------------------------
