    Yay! Dance Horsey, Dance!

I love how few people appreciate Dressage and equestrianism. Some of the comments on forums have been fantastic (ly dumb).

As the late, great Gordon Brown once said "We're all out of gold.".

Don't worry, guaranteed medals in Boxing and Sailing today, with strong chances of Gold in both as well.

I'm starting to think maybe all our 'strong chances of gold' will come to naught from now. :(

Or maybe I'm just reverting to Standard British Operating Status (cynical, melancholy, secretly believing that medals we didn't win weren't because the other countries were better).

Most important to me is, will Russia catch up? I've been looking at their medal haul from Beijing and many of their golds came from athletics and wrestling, there's still plenty of golds to be won on each of those this time around, I'm just hoping that other countries prevent them from retaining the titles in the events. Keep calm and carry on...

Meanwhile USA media ranks the countries in total medals order so that they can artificially raise themselves above China who have more golds...I wonder if their citizens suffer from cognitive dissonance when viewing a medal table that places them top when they have fewer golds...anyway it has the side-effect of putting us below Russia. I'll bet Russian media shows their country in fourth below us, they wouldn't try to fool themselves otherwise.

Canada score in second minute of time added. Almost feel sorry for France.

Well I don't, Canada deserved a break after their match against USA, where during the last few mins of second period extra time, two of Canada's players were kicked with red-card-worthy fouls, each of which would have ruled them out of penalty taking had it come to that.

    @FogHeart

    Not strictly speaking France's fault.

I'm not anti-France here, just pro-Canada, who I feel got a raw deal in the semi due to bad refereeing in 2nd period extra time.

It's a lot more fun when they're all racing together. Crashes galore!

Those shots of the riders from the front launching into the air are spectacular, like seeing colourful birds take to the wing.

Yeah the BMXing is pretty awesome to watch. I mean, who doesn't love seeing lots of crashes eh?

So do the BMXers still alive after 3 events go through to the semi-final?

All it needs is a few explosive barrels and it could be Trials!

Horse dancing is positively pedestrian by comparison.

Pity I'm missing the carnage in the BMX, I shall have to watch it later. I'm half expecting someone to pull themselves off of the course and shout something like this at the spectators.

    This space left intentionally blank.

Well judging by those races I suspect the medals go to the last three that can still breathe by the end of it!

And yeah it reminded me of Trials as well actually now that you mention it Ironlungs, except with more crashes.

Being filmed by a Belgian crew! One of my friends is a camerawoman out there. Lucky bast. She gets to hang out at the olympics for a week or two. Not sure how much time there is to take it all in alongside the actual work.
