Anyone catch this? Very simple premise, two parents struggle with the daily grind of looking after their three kids. Lots of nice little touches throughout but the star is the little five year old girl, she comes out with the funniest things ever.

BBC 4, dunno when, it's on iplayer

Sadly it has Hugh Dennis in it, which means I can't watch it.

The description sounds horrible... children and acting is not usually something that goes well together.

Is this a new series? I hope so.

    If not, old thread here

This show is top notch, and the kids, especially the little girl are great. I don't like Hugh Dennis on Mock the Week, but he's very funny in this.

Hugh Dennis has almost given up on Mock The Week, Frankie Boyle may as well be there on his own now.

Frankie is the only reason I tune in to MTW, really. He's the only one that goes for the risque jokes.

Come on is no one else watching this? It's probably the best sitcom there is at the moment, on either side of the pond. It just goes from strength to strength, the perfect comedy about muddling through life.

Best British sitcom in years. Andy Hamilton's writings are always a joy and this is no exception. Even Hugh Dennis shines in this!

I've also enjoyed Lead Balloon, although not so much recently, but this is beyond that and beats shite like Gavin and Stacey into a bloody pulp.

The last two episodes of Lead Balloon have been particularly good. That seems to be finding its feet nicely, which is pretty much the case with most sitcoms, they need at least over 12 episodes to really get into it, which over here is usually two series!

Agreed about Gavin and Stacey though, it's pretty fun to watch the first time through but it just doesn't stand up to repeated viewings, unlike Outnumbered.

It's funny but there's a danger in them overcooking it with the kids though.

Completely missed this first time round.

It's actually it's really good.. some really good writing.

The little girl is brilliant ("Daddy, I love you as much as cats") and so is Ben ("Stranger!!!"), but he''d do my head in if he was mine.

    The mam is kinda tasty..

New series started yesterday. 9.30pm on BBC1.

Have recorded the episode, due to the golf. Sounds like a good scenario. A family sightseeing trip in London...

God, the few minutes I've caught of this have been excruciating. I can just about see people with kids enjoying it but the rest of you....

Well, I enjoy it. I even find Hugh Dennis fairly amusing in this, and I'm not normally a fan - but it's the kids who are the stars. I like it that the characters are all pretty believable, and don't suffer from the normal sit-com problem of doing something completely irrational and out of character just to get them into the embarassing situation which drives the humour. This is more about slight one-liners to be honest, so I guess it's not 100% a sit-com.

I used to enjoy it before kids. It's brilliant. Best thing the BBC make IMO.

Although I've never watched the show, I just want to say that the trailers always gives me a good laugh :-)

    I can't find them though :-(

When you say 'special' you mean 'first episode of the new series', right? ;)

And yeah it wasn't great. But as ever, Karen absolutely stole the show in every single scene. In fact all the rest of the scenes just felt like padding before giving us some more classic Karen.

Well I thought it was alright. Not up with the best episodes ever, but it made me laugh, and that's all I'm looking for really. Though I can see the older one (Jake is it?) really getting on my tits doing the whole teenage thing.

Maybe I should give it another go, but looked like formulaic sit-com pap to me. Didn't make me smile once.

Exactly what sitcoms on TV in this age are better than outnumbered? The Thick of It and Peep Show is all i can think of, I think its great :)

Agreed, it's the best sitcom the beeb have done for years. It could do with Hugh Dennis saving his politicslol stuff for the Now Show though.
