About 70% of the sieges in Total War I'd say.

If you could include humans in the bad A.I. category, I'd nominate Octopus for not creating this thread under General Gaming.

Any RTS in which a mass of units deciding splitting up and going 2-3 separate ways to their destination is the best tactic.

    IE, fucking all of them.

    Worst AI, ever

Sorry, i couldn't resist. To answer sensibly, I'd vouch for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.
    "Under heavy fire!"
"Stop standing in the fucking road then!"

I found the A.I's response to your orders to be pretty damn poor.

Did you play it on PC? It was hailed as great on the 360 but the PC demo had terrible AI.

OBlivion had pretty bad enemy AI. As far as I could see there was two modes. Warrior or monster=charge blindly at you and mage=run around like a headless chicken casting spells

Oh, come on. Surely the "IF BAR_COLOUR = RED and HEALTH < 30% then HEAL else /POINT and /LAUGH" AI was awesomeness.

You didn't die all THAT much :p

+1 for Gran Turismo, or it would be if GT had AI, but it doesn't. The other cars follow the racing line FULL STOP. This is regardless of whether you're in the way or not, stupid retarded blind drivers.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has screwed me over a few times when I've ordered my team into cover and they translate that as directly in front of the enemy. They weren't even slightly close! Bah.

Kirby is the man! Even if he wasn't, he'd just ingest and become one.

Soul Calibur IV has some pretty piss poor AI. It's like they just pre-programmed them with a few preset combos rather than a sound understanding of the fighting mechanics, so when you find a move they know they'll get hit with no matter which combo they try, they just stand still looking all puzzled while I spam them to death with it.

The C&C series has always been a good example of terrible AI, the CPU always resorts to cheating on anything above easy setting. And even then you can quite easily beat them. Where as in a game like WCIII even on normal setting the AI puts up a bloody good struggle without resorting to unlimited resources etc.

Was it way of the exploding fist you could win every time by using the down backwards leg sweep?

You cannot stop me with paramecium alone!

Mass Effect. Your own team mates are incompetent half-wits, they'll happily shoot at walls to get at enemy on the other side or, even better, stand behind the player character shooting him/her. It doesn't hurt you, but makes the screen shake, which is really useful when sniping.

The enemy are dribbling morons too. On foot they have two tactics: stand at a distance and cower behind cover, occasionally running out into the open to get shot, or charge directly at you where they can be cut down with a shotgun. Gun turrets can be bested with the devious tactic of 'crouching by a rock' so the projectiles either hit the cover or miss completely.

That's true. Unit behavior as well. I remember the cruisers from one of the C&C2 addons which usually missed targets completely. If you moved them just a few pixels they would hit perfectly though and deal a lot of damage. Not sure if that was on purpose but it always bugged me.

If you're referring to the cruisers in RA then I think they were deliberately poor accuracy because they were so powerful.

The best example from the C&C series is the harvester AI. Your resource collector is under attack, you need it to return to base as quickly as possible, what does it do? Spins around a bit, gets stuck next to a tree and explodes.
The skirmish AI in RA always annoyed the hell out of me: if you had more than one enemy set up, first thing they'd do is rush towards eachother and become allies, leaving you to fight the whole bloody lot of them.

Gears of War on the PC.

Some totally unbelievable moments of WTF. Baddies taking 5 or 6 hits without even registering that somebody is shooting them.

Shame, as I started playing it a couple of nights ago, and initially really preferred the K&M controls, but from what I've read, it's bugged to fuck. Can't believe they still haven't patched it to even get rid of the jerkiness.

Fuck that, what about the Tiberium in the original? Kills soldiers deader than dead, so WHY THE FUCK did the AI routinue seemingly go out of its way to have them trapse through it? Every infantry attack on the enemy ended with a couple of dozen versions of that toxic bloke off Robocop putting up about as much fight as my gran.

LB, you really are a massive geek.
