    Hello,

I've bought the 60GB 360 on Monday, it came with an offer for another 2 years warranty for 50 something. Is it worth my while getting that ?

    Cheers.

Well, any RROD problems are covered by MS so I'd say no.

You're always smart to pay for the extended warranties. Especially the ones that cover the same period of time as the manufacturer's one.

What does it cover, and more specifically how clumsy are you? I never tend to bother myself, as I treat my stuff well so don't feel the need. But if you're in a household where damage is possible, and the warranty covers it, go for it.

It will RROD within a year or so, and MS will fix it for free then you'll have a further warranty from them on the fixed one from that date.

    No, don't buy it bascially

Buy it with a credit card. Most offer breakage insurance for items anyway. Either that or get some home insurance and if it dies breakamafie it.

Cheers guys. I'll take the chance and won't get the extended warranty and spend the 50 on a couple of games instead. :-)

Having had to deal with Microsoft support to get my one replaced after RRODing, I might actually be tempted to pay the extra just so I don't have to.

So far they're online repair provisioning thing has completely failed to provide me with a repair number, then when I called up I was told that I did have one, but I should wait 24 hours to get a shipping label e-mailed.

After 24 hours, I've called up, to be told that in fact the online one *didn't* in fact work.

Strangely it seems that waiting a further 48 hours will magically fix the problem according to the person I spoke to. I'll see. Then I'll start asking for managers, and see if that works instead.

50! I skimmed over that the first time, never in a million years would I pay 50. I'd go with your decision of getting games instead. Heck, in my local Gamestation that'll get you a new Gamecube and 6 games (approx).

I change my 360 before the year is up, or have a receipt to hand so I can take it back to a store asap.

I've never seen the point in these extended warranties. In theory, your statutory rights should cover you for things going wrong with these things. Right?

Yeah... that's a big theory. Actually getting them to stick to it short of going to the small claims court is another story.

Warranties can cover you for accidental damage too. Still rarely worth the money though.

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone have much Small Claims experience? From what I've heard, it's generally pretty easy and cheap, but I find that hard to reconcile with my preconceptions about anything legal.

This is where you went wrong. Tell them you don't have a printer and they will send the UPS man around the next day with a shipping label, he will then take away your 360 (if you have put it in a box). Wait two weeks, get bored and decide to buy an elite instead then trade in your old 360 when it gets back.

Doesn't it cost about 50-60 to get Microsoft to fix it out of warrenty anyway?

    Portable view - Never forget.

Small claims can be costly but if successful they will more than likely be paid back. This can backfire, you could end up getting it back at a rate of 1 a month! Cannot see M$ playing that game though.

Quick Warranty question chaps. I got a Premium yesterday. I just registered it online and it says the warranty expires at the end of November this year? Huh? Is that right?

I know they don't count the standard 3 red lights (I'm not calling it a ring, it's not a ring) in that, so it should show up as a year from the date of registration.
This isn't November, so I'd say that's wrong, but as long as you've got your receipt as a proof of purchase date, you'll be fine.

I'd only reccommend getting extended warranty from GAME. I believe it's 3 years for 30.

If it breaks you bring it into the store for a replacement if the value of the console has changed within that time period you can get the next one up or pay a little extra and get a better system.

Yeah the three year warranty covers the three red lights (only those mind, normal warranty applies for other issues).

Sweet. I tell you what. My manufacture date is Sept 09 and it's really quiet in comparison to my 4 I had a couple of years back.
