I cannot for the life of me see why anyone would do that. Maybe if they came out into a wonderful underground world full of dinosaurs and dusky maidens in furry bikinis....even then I'd need some convincing. And a diet too probably.

Normal potholing freaks me out a bit, squeezing through the same ridiculous gaps underwater is not extreme, but completely nuts.

I heard cave diving is one of the only extreme sports which is considered safer when done alone, as if a partner freaks out they can become a massive danger (i.e. grabbing at you and your breathing apparatus).

    yeah, seriously screw that!
I'd be pressed to think of anything more stressful than being trapped underground in confined spaces under water *shiver*

    I love diving.
    I like caves - sometimes.

Cave diving, however, is an activity so far down my list I can't even see it. Absolutely terrifying.

Yeah, that whole worming your way through a tight crevice (matron). Not fun.

I'm not claustrophobic so I watched the video. Now I'm claustrophobic. How can anyone do that for fun?

Watched that cave diving video. It looks like a boring pastime; I understand why people go diving in the deep sea or climb into caves, as there is an exploration element about them, but sliding through very tiny dark spaces seems to be bordering on the masochistic fetish type of enjoyment. Still, to each their own I suppose.

Although, in the event of a Zombie apocalypse, there guys will have the ultimate escape plan.

Old ages of the internet. Here's the original story. It's worth reading the whole way through.

Nuggets of joy people, read the title!

I've read a few stories about potholers and cave divers who've got stuck and died, and I'll never forget them. I seem to be cursed with a fascination for things that frighten me, and in this case it's something I find so completely terrifying I can't even think about it without my blood running cold and feeling a sudden desperate urge to get up and walk around!

So right now I'm debating whether to watch the cave diving video above, when I know I will in the end, and I'm bound to regret it.

Just read all of that. Reading about him trying to squeeze through the hole is almost scarier than the rest!

It looks horrendous, absolutely no appeal at all. It's like watching those guys that eat light bulbs and stuff. Puts me all on edge, horrible.

Any space not big enough to turn around in would freak me out, let alone being under water.

Well... yeah. Of course it was. Great story though, even before the direction changed it was engrossing enough.
