Dark Sky is out now in the UK. In spite of what the name may suggest, it's actually a really good weather app. It uses weather radar systems to accurately predict the next hour of weather and can alert you when it's about to start raining - very useful if you have clothes hanging out!

Two things that make me cautious:

    1) TouchArcade gave it an effusively positive review, which usually means there's some issues with it that they've studiously overlooked so as to drive up their affiliate takings. Indeed the review claims there are several flies in the ointment, but only mentions one (a consumable IAP).

    2) There's a consumable gold IAP. Is it purely for the entirely lazy, or has there been some gimping of the gameplay to, ahem, encourage consideration of the gold IAP?

What's the difference between it and forecast.io, their free web app which does accurate rain forecasts and so much more?

@THFourteen I was mostly disappointed by the presence of an IAP, can you try to remember to come back and let us know to what extent it's completely skippable for 'proper" gamers? ;)

I'd rather it was that than 0.99 with IAP.

paid £9.99 for baludrs gate or whatever it was they were asking and it was still worth it.

I'll pay that for XCOM but not KOTOR. It was good but it wasn't that good that I need to play it a second time.

Apple silently released a new 16GB iPod today, which replaces the old ones (fourth generation, me thinks).

    How much?

    £199

To think the old ones were £139 with a 0.5" smaller screen and a camera on the back, which is surprisingly removed in this 'new' one.

They are losing their bananas ... it is an App store device that starts from £199 now.

Affordable for parents, this certainly isn't!

I know they add features incrementally...but to remove something as fundamental as a camera, just so they can add it back in at a later date, is ridiculous.

So, yeah, I was totally misinformed about that ;)

Still, not sure this is an iPad game for me. Something about playing games on an iPad, my attention span is even lower than normal. Long, deep, replayable RPGs don't suit the device, for me. Perhaps if there's a sale at Christmas... ;)

I lurk. If I've spoken to you, I'm either impassioned, or drunk.

@BravoGolf Tube Deluxe is alright but kinda bland. Tube Tracker (App Store linky) on the other hand is great. Lots of cool features and looks nice too. Website here: http://tubetracker.co.uk

I particularly like the URL scheme stuff, the tracking of actual trains on the line (you can send friends a link to the train you're on that they can track in their own copy of the app), and the integration with Panic's Status Board app. And the developer is always adding cool new stuff, whereas when I wrote to the Tube Deluxe dev with some ideas and feedback he just brushed them all off as "not really worth it" - despite being features that had attracted me to Tube Tracker.

I know I sound like I *am* the dev of Tube Tracker, lol, I just really like it :)

@BravoGolf Also I'd get Tube Exits, tells you what carriage to get on so that when you arrive the exit is right in front of you. Sounds frivolous, is in fact incredibly useful :)
