Quite a lot of planes have plugs these days, especially long haul.

Just started off Final Fantasy 4. You can see where Final Fantasy 9 was looking back to for a lot of its mood, themes and music.

Graphics and direction are pleasingly done, I mean it is a DS game using the layout of a SNES game at heart, but it looks lovely. The cut scenes are nicely done too.

Are world of goo and little inferno worth a purchase?

Little Inferno not so much, it's more of a dark, but witty interactive experience.

Oh and my Ba economy flight didn't have plugs. But I did watch Argo, the Hobbit and Taken 2 on the way here so didn't use my ipad at all!

I did 13 hours on Virgin Cattle Class last week. No plugs, but I watched, loads of films, that I never get to do.

Gaming will run through your charge in no time at all. I'd get a charging device eg a Powermonkey.

I'm gonna get a battery extender type thing, we're off to the Dominican Republic and have no idea what the plugs on the plane would be like anyway. And have to go to Frankfurt first, cos Germany is the master race and all flights have to go through there.

Actually there were free to use charging stations at Heathrow and Shanghai airports - I imagine they will be commonplace. SO make sure you grab a quick power-up when you can.

I'm enjoying Badland a lot. It's kind of Jetpack Joyride meets Limbo, but beyond the immediacy and prettiness (both high levels), it's actually got some quite deep and clever physics stuff going on.

One of the best ios games I've come across in a while.

    iPhone app, not iPad.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Just got an Iphone, am deprived of any other gaming device apart from an old, slow laptop so I've started looking to ios to get my gaming kicks.

    THERE ARE SO MANY OPTIONS.

When did this happen? So many games look amazing and there's even GTA now?

Basically, I'm asking for recommendations. Would go through the thread but its 358 pages long and not all these games are new releases.

    I'm interested in:

Ghost Trick - but it's free? I'm guessing there's some microtransaction stuff, is it a nuisance?

Phoenix Wright - is this just the original with the same cases?

Horn - looks like a proper game, how does it control though?

Sid Meirs Pirates - any good?

The GTA games - does it work with touch controls?

Any other recommendations are welcome, looking for something to get really stuck into though.

@Blotto Retro Racing and Ridiculous Fishing are two games I'd recommend. Simple but both have lots of depth. Plague Inc is also good although I've got a bit bored of it.

    @Blotto

For today grab Ticket To Ride Europe while it's free.

Other freebies (or I paid 69p at most for them) I've got and would recommend:

    Galaxy on Fire
    Shining Force
    Broken Sword (and BS2)
    ZooKeeper
    Grand Prix Story
    Mini Motor
    Flick Kick Football
First Touch Soccer (I wouldn't mind giving you a game of this if you do get it)
Highborn (you get the first three episodes free, which last about four hours, then you pay 69p for the rest I think)
    Ozone
New Star Soccer (stupidly addictive, although too easy. I scored 613 goals in my last season. The rest of the team scored 14, layabouts)
    Blueprint
    Trainyard
    Flight Control
    ChuChu

My single recommend: Swords & Sworcery. A unique, retro-styled, adventure game with a stunning soundtrack.

    Loved it, well worth 2.99.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

@Blotto - what about CivRev - probably my most played iOS game.

Ghost Trick costs 7 for all the chapters but is a delightful game to play.

I think Phoenix Wright is indeed the original, maybe with one more special edition case in there.

The GTA games play like ass. For anything that has been on console, ask yourself "does this require sticks and multiple buttons?" - if YES, then the game will be shit on the phone.

    Worth looking at:

Final Fantasy 4 and Tactics. FF3 is a bit dull and don't get lured into Chaos Rings thinking they are PSone jRPG incarnate.

Kariosoft games - come in two flavours: Management and Building Sim. Of the management ones, I like Premier League Story and Grand Prix Story. Of the building ones, Hot Springs Story and Pocket Academy.

    Superbrothers: Sworcery is amazingly atmospheric.

Orbital HD is a great area puzzler. Worth getting the Supanova expansion as that is a great play type.

Flight Control - addictive air control.

Beat Sneak Bandit - rhythm puzzler.

Year Walk - unusual adventure game. Probably something you want a notepad handy to play though!

Canabalt and Solipskier are entertaining "endless left to right" games.

Geodefense is one of the better tower defense games.

Helsing's Fire and The Incident were some of the early good iPhone titles - I haven't touched them much though.

Quarrel DX is fun, but sorely lacking a multiplayer mode.

Jetpack Joyride / Temple Run - if you want to try some of the flagbearing endless runners. I find they are a bit light on fun once you realise that the entire thing is geared around grinding for experience and little else.

Hero Academy - really good strategy game by the Age Of Empires people. Simple, board battling game and has multiplayer.

Monsters Ate My Condo - bizarre puzzle game, fun and vibrant.

Secret Of Mana - absolutely classic SNES moment.

Spaceteam - but only with friends and booze.

So that 'Star Command' is out. Never followed the Kickstarter but I gather it was heated. Anyway, tis my latest 'most promising game that turned out to be a disappointment', sadly.

Mainly it's the fact your crew can't defend themselves from relentless invaders unless you march them (slowly) over to a 'red' room, at which point they get made into Security, and you march them (slowly) back to where the invaders are.

I don't mind stupidly hard games in which you're guaranteed to die so long as it's fun to play them, but this one is so frustrating. Maybe I'm playing it wrong. Anyone else having more fun with it?

It makes me pine for FTL on iOS even more than before.
