In a move that surprises no one, but is welcome all the same, Traveller's Tales have said they're making Lego games based on other Warner Bros licences.

    http://www.mcvuk.com/news/31440/Warner-IP-to-fuel-new-LEGO-titles

Good news? Hopefully they won't thrash a good idea into the ground; Lego Indy did throw some new ideas into the mix, and Lego Batman looks like it does the same. Time will tell, but I'm excited...

    1. Slap the fucking 'Lego' logo in front of any old shite
    2. Recycle the same game engine
    3. Watch millions of slavering fanboys wanking over the thought of a Lego Gandalf
    4. Profit

    :p

I will definetly get Indy Lego at some point (still have to finish the complete saga first!) but I'm not sure about Batman. I am however sure that I will probably skip Lord of the Rings because for some reason I simply didn't enjoy the movies at all.

A lot of those games' charm is that you know the characters well and how they managed to make the cutscenes work without any text or speech but that simply doesn't work if you're not into the movies so really doubt that I would enjoy those games. And as fun as they are I do think there's a limit to how often the same idea can get recycled.

Maybe LotR will come without tearing though, that would certainly be an improvement.

There's a v-sync option which removes tearing in Lego Indy. I've not noticed any slowdown, either.

Oh, didn't know that. Personally I didn't think the tearing was that bad in the Star Wars games but it's a nice addition anyways.

Lego Lotr would be excellent.. A spiderman game would be nice too. Perfect for my kid - since the violence is funny and non-gory and there's some gags in there too. Good stuff.

    Bring it!

I think a Lego Pirates of the Caribbean would be much more fun. They could have a lot of fun with a Lego Captain Jack Sparrow and a Lego Orlando Bloom would probably act better than the real thing. (in either Pirates or LotR)

Though I'm not sure if the Tolkien family would be to happy with Travellers Tales pissing around with the LotR story not to mention the hardcore book fanboys

I don't know why they don't do Lego LotR, it makes sense. It'd be great and it'd sell loads. It has three films/books so plenty of content and also the Hobbit could be some unlockable content, like Young Indy in Lego Indy. Lots of characters to unlock as well, etc.

    Sounds like a no brainer.

although not likely, Lego: Back to the future trilogy would make a very interesting game
bit of hover board action, bit of wild west

would also love to see the fantastic end scene of doc brown flying down the wire before lighting strikes...Lego Biff, oh my god i want this more than ever now!!

    Lego Lord of the Rings
    Lego Back to the Future
    Lego Pirates of the Caribbean

All would be well. What else could they do?

Lego Evil Dead would actually be ace :D

Lego Battle Royale could be a multiplayer deathmatch type affair, with each player being randomly assigned a weapon at the start.

By 'Vengeance trilogy', I mean Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance/Oldboy/Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, by the way.

GTA made of Lego would be pretty funny. As someone else said, so would Crackdown. Just having that big Lego world to explore and build/destroy would be brilliant.

Oh good lord, Traveller's Tales - LEAVE IT ALONE!

I wouldn't mind if the lego games actually went back to the old idea of letting the user get a fair amount of creative stuff going - what's the fucking point in a constant stream of lego games that do the exact same thing as the last one, just with a different IP / set of characters tacked in?

/just doesn't get the appeal of the TT lego games at all

Lego Downfall could be good. Plenty of chances for humour.

same here pjmaybe, when you think of 'Lego' you imagine it to be like that new Banjo & Kazooie game where you can create vehicles etc from the blocks you find. But nope, it's just a generic 90's throwback platformer which tries to excuse the low creativity and production values by being lego.

Well I think the idea is to make it so each game is a bit different. Lego Indy was a lot more puzzle-based than Lego Star Wars, for instance. They should choose a game with very little combat in it next and work with that.

Personally I love Lego Star Wars more as a collect 'em up than anything else. It's also entertaining to see the way in which they choose to lampoon the movies. The LEGO element, whilst severely under-utilised just adds to the charm.
