More "Elite", less "Frontier", please. Or no deal.

I'm surprised Frontier are still going. They're not exactly the most prolific of developers are they? Who's paying the bills?
Oddly, I think what little they produce actually sells very well. Bit odd though, Frontier.

I find it somehow amusing that they actually have a QA team this time around. :-D

Well, As Braben himself has said - they'd be mad not to go back to the Elite universe.

But, considering the 'QAing' quote from above, if they are that far down the line with nary a definite annoucement or screenshot along the way, then I'd be pleasantly surprised.

Come to think of it - wouldn't it be nice if more games just 'snuck up' on us?

Which sets alarm bells ringing with that "unlikely to be on PC" statement, as it's less than likely to be on anything else at this point, unless it's practically complete. But with no official word whatsoever for years that's not likely.

    I smell bullshit.

True and he did start the company just to make the sequel.
    Which he did. Twice.

    BBC MICRO
    BBC Micro
    Released in late 1981
    8 bit microprocessor
    6502 CPU at 2 MHz
    640*256 screen resolution
    Cost 375 at launch
    1.5 million sold

375?! Bloody hell, that was a fortune back then!

We had one though, and we had Elite.

I remember begging my Dad for a copy of Elite on the BBC Micro, but he refused stating that it was too expensive, since he would also have to pay out for a cooling fan and a floppy disk drive in order to play it properly.

Haha! I was making a mental list of the 'I had a BBC micro as a child' posters myself. Bet they all went to Uni too.. :)

It was only the posh, studious nerds that had beebs when I was at school.

I too had the *superior* Spectrum version.

I spent a lot of time playing the BBC version at my best mate's but owned the Spectrum version. I thought the Speccy one was better too.

It was for a lot of reasons. A higher framerate without that re-draw flicker was the main thing, but also the speccy version had a couple of extra secret missions due to having more memory.

Of course the Speccy version was better. It was on the Speccy, and not on that ugly stepchild of a computer that was known as the BBC Micro.

Ignore me sorry, I'm a massive tit.

Turns out the people I know are working on The Outsider. Hard to confuse I know but they are being particularly vague.

I checked out the link for the BBC news and the original link. A bit of hype surrounding elite 4 and the interview with Braben was... interesting. Maybe they'll show us something soon?

    :/
