Hardly a suprise really. Hewitt's been off for ages now.

Murray's got to be worth a flutter for the US Open.

Not a chance...at least not this year.

    lol. Daft statement.

Nadal is tired, Feds isn't the real Feds at the moment and he's beaten Novak twice in the last 2 tournaments.

Of course he's got a chance and a good one at that, which is reflected in the odds. About 10-1, 4th lowest odds, after the top 3. He's not the favourite obviously but he's got a very good chance.

If you bet on him before these two tournaments you'd have got better odds.

Still feel the same way about Murray?

Not sure hsi Olympics defeat will be indicative of his chances at the US Open though. He didn't seem to care about Beijing really.

I never thought he'd do well at the US, Olympics or no Olympics. He's done fantastic to get to 9 in the world but I'll stand by my original thoughts that he ain't got the legs at the moment to do well over 7 five set matches.

Mentally and physically not there yet.

Federer will be routed at the US open. He's going down. By late September he'll be number 3 in the world.

What the hell happened to Federer? How can he go from being the best tennis player ever, to this, in such a short period of time? What happened?

Djokovic has been complete turd recently as well. Nadal might end up winning the gold by default.

He's lost to Roddick before...twice, and once this year.

To be honest I doubt many of the big names see the Olympics as anything more than a distraction. It's certainly not the pinnacle of the sport. Also, best of 3 sets can be a bit of a lottery anyway.

Although I think Fed desperately needed it as a confidence booster for the US.

Yes, I know. I was watching.

And to claim Federer wasn't bothered about the Olympics is madness. It was the most important event this year for him, whether it's widely seen as a major achievement or not. He's been talking about it all year.

I didn't say it was madness..just that a lot of the players aren't particularly bothered by it. Don't misquote me. I also said Fed needed it more than anything.

And actually, he only started talking about it a lot after he lost at Wimbledon. He was saying he needed to do well at the Olympics and New York, otherwise he'd had a bad year.

I didn't say you said it was madness. Don't put words in my mouth, and learn to read things properly.

And no, Federer's whole year has been about the Olympics. He was desperate to get a gold this year. He's been talking it up even more since Wimbledon, but right from the start of the year Federer has had his mind on Beijing.

look, let's just beg to differ eh?

I'm one of those that thinks tennis should not be in the Olympics and I know a lot of the players think the same. Otherwise you'd have more big names winning gold. Slams are what counts in tennis...nothing else.

I play County tennis so I'd like to think I know a little about the game.

This Olympics has had virtually all the top 10 competing. I think that demonstrates how important it is.

This year maybe but I was talking historically. When it comes to the end of their careers, players are judged by Slams and that's it.

Nadal needs to be careful as Gonzalez can blow anyway way over 2 sets with that forehand of his. And Nadal does seem tired...god, I'd be tired if I'd had his year..;-)

\0/..I'll be in New York for the 2nd week of the US Open. Managed to get 4 tickets for Arthur Ash Court for semi-finals...
