I love how his mum was taking photos on her Blackberry. Like any other primary school kid's mum.

I was thinking that, this year really has just been amazing. It's not going to be topped for a very long time!
Watch England stumble to somehow lift the World Cup in Rio now and ruin it all.

    Awesome!
So happy for him, still can't believe how strong he was, some incredible tennis and athleticism.

He's definitely crashed out by now, with a nice $2m cheque tucked under his pillow.

Not until Lendl has had his way with him.

    Get the fuck in!!!

Just woke p to the news. I had to go to bed just as Djokovic started to pull back a set. Would have loved to have sat up for it but I have to be bright-eyed for work this morning.

But again, get the fuck in, you dancer!!! :D

Woooo! I had to stop watching at the beginning of the fourth set (stupid needing to sleep) but so glad he did it.

First time I've missed one of his finals though and this is the one he only goes and bloody wins. Bastard. :D

Good shit muzz! Went to bed when Djokovic started taking some wickets in the 3rd over and fully expected to wake up to news of another valiant defeat.

    2012 you rock!

    Come and get it cumslingers!

Never been a fan of the US Open ... much prefer Roland Garros, Australian Open and Wimbledon however, that is not to take anything away from Murray - absolutely superb news to wake up to!

Ivan Lendl could have least tried to crack a smile though, the miserable looking bugger.

Andy clearly was thinking about going straight to bed after the match had finished though, which is probably why his speech wasn't awfully emotional or me memorable ... not that I blame him.

    ... : )

Nice to see the usual partisanship et al on the BBC comments.

Honest statement: I know the British/English/London press are fucking terrible, but I really don't recall seeing Murray called Scottish when losing. He is rightly proud of being a Scot, but clearly knows and accepts that Britain as a whole want him too.

You can watch 8 or so minutes of the highlights here

There's no commentary but well worth seeing nevertheless!

    Love the Murray metre :D

Is that a direct quote from the Torygraph? Idiots.

Me too. Not just for Murray's win, but also for some of the most outrageous tennis I've ever seen.

I'd like to think he'd pip it anyway. But if he finishes the year as No. 1 I think he'll get SPOTY.
I think he'll struggle to get more popularity than Bradley Wiggins, even though Murray got gold at the olympics too. Personally I'm a big murray fan but I think Wiggo has achieved more.
