    Spotted something slightly odd with the STO website. If you Google it the text that appears below the link reads "Official website from Perpetual Entertainment with news, dev blogs and frequently asked questions."

    Perpetual of course are the original developers - Cryptic started from scratch but I find it odd they'd let a mistake like that slip through given it's their baby now.

    That does seem strange, especially given the complete overhaul the site had this week. There's certainly nothing of Perpetual left on the site now, seem like it's something on the server they really should look into. I'm not reporting it though, they wouldn't care.

    I was listening to a pretty good STO podcast (possibly called STOked, though I wouldn't bet money on it).

    The were talking about information leaked from beta, about how generally everything is very, very stable for a beta. This pleases me quite a bit - I was concerned that with this little time (relative to CO) in beta it might be in a bit of a state, but it seems it's actually alright. I just wish there were other people leaking screenshots and other goodies!

    I recommend the podcast if you want a few tidbits.

    Big, weighty ships firing big, shield juddering volleys of phaser fire. I do like it a whole lot. I'm not sure whether the combat will feel more like Eve Online, or maybe Star Trek Legacy, but there certainly seems to be some free use of all 3 dimensions, unlike Starfleet Command.

    I think they're said they've treated warp as a seperate entity, and I doubt very much given the furthur future setting there are any slower than light speed sensors around. So no Picard manouver :(

    Riker however - I'm sure that's make a great ability to use, hopefully it's in there somewhere.

    If there's an EG fleet happening, I'll be there! Though I'm not doing another varient on Lollipops.

    I think the only confirmed interior for your own ship is the Bridge, though I'm sure other mission aboard other ships will feature the transporter room in some way.

    A Star Trek universe can't exist without a transporter room FFS. Even if it's just an FMV of your team beaming down, it has to be there in some way.

    What do you do in the transporter room? Beam up and down. Not exactly the most exhilarating place on a ship most of the time.

    There does need to be an engineering section though.

    Also, I didn't say I wanted to "use" the room in-game, I said I wanted to see me and my away team beamup/beam down.

    I can tell you from what I played in the Expo you definitely beam down/up. Whenever a character is finished in the area the option to finish up and return to ship appears, and a cutscene showing you and your crew beaming shows.

    I hope there are holodecks BabyJesus, some unlockable classic moments would be awesome! Taking on Khan in the nebula, or the Borg at Wolf 359, or whichever battles you love with set crews and ships would be a great way to have a challenge mode.

    I'm pretty sure that if there aren't holodecks at the start they will be in later on. Pretty much a requirement - in some form at least.

    I just want to pull a Kirk manouver - sexing up some hot alien ladies!

    Holodecks were awesome in Next Gen. If you were to say that Voyager broke them, I'd be tempted to agree thanks to Fair Haven. Didn't enjoy a single one of those - I tuned into bloody Star Trek, not a US take on Ballykissangel!

    Cryptic had the vid taken down. So bad they had it culled? That doesn't sound promising.

    I've played it at the Expo, the ship stuff is bloody brilliant and I'll stand by that!

    The planetside stuff... significantly harder to defend even by me, someone enough of a fanboy of a game he's played for all of 15 minutes to attempt to defend it months before release :p But it's not going to be as good, clearly. I'll always be thinking "And why didn't I just use my ship to transport something or shoot something to win?" even if that's not logical (I won't be playing as a Vulcan).
