I've not got it installed at the moment so won't be of much use to you, but I'm sure one of the other regs will be able to get you a friends/fleet invite :)

I'm not much if a grinder myself but it does seem to be less, although that could be a little subjective.

I was just talking to another friend of mine in rl who also plays STO about said dil changes and he pointed me at this thread http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=457021

    And this post
The Reputation System, including the STFs are getting some major changes over the next two weeks. Here is a rundown of what is going to happen over the next several Holodeck updates.

Omega Conversion Crates can be opened immediately. You will no longer need to achieve T3 in Omega Fleet to open these.
Reputation XP Project timers are dropping from 40 hours to 20 hours across all Tiers. If you have a project in progress, it will not change, but any new projects after the update will be adjusted. We are also looking into adding the ability to drop a project.
All XP Reputation Projects (projects that reward progress towards your next Tier) will now grant 240 Dilithium (on average) upon completion. If you complete 4 XP Rep Projects a day, you should earn about 960 Dilithium per day from it. These are in addition to the Marks to Dilithium conversion Projects. Once you've completed a Reputation System, these XP Projects will go away, but the Marks to Dilithium conversion projects will remain.
Reputation Projects that convert Marks to Dilithium are being moved from unlocking at T5 to being available immediately. This allows you to convert Omega Marks and Romulan Marks to Dilithium similar to how you could trade STF items for Dilithium previously.
Loot drops are getting added to STF mobs as well as to bosses.
End of STF Loot Rolls are returning. There will once again be a chance to earn special rewards at the end of STFs or Romulan Mark events. These special rewards will be Bonus marks, Borg Neural Processors, or other items needed for Reputation rewards.
Reputation Advancement Projects (the ones that unlock each tier) are having their timers reduced from 1 hour to 15 mins. and we are removing Dilithium inputs from these Tier Up projects.
The amount of commodities needed for Romulan Reputation projects is being reduced due to the lack of drops on New Romulus. We will be adding more drops to New Romulus in the future either through enemy kills or daily missions.
All Reputation Projects are being changed so that you need to claim the reward upon completion. This puts it in line with how Duty Officer assignments work so you can see the rewards you are getting from each project.

We expect all of the above changes to be live before December. A few will be live by tomorrow, with the rest live around Nov 29th.
So it might all even out in the end? *crosses fingers* :)

40 hours for a rep project can only have seemed like a good idea to someone who is insane.

Sadly it seems they've broken the servers with this latest patch. I'm getting booted every 2 mins.

I certainly hope they fix it by tomorrow night for out fleet stuff.

Well fourfourfun for anyone who I don't have on Steam. Ping me an invite.

Just going to do an investigate now.

    EDIT:

Maybe not. WHAT ON EARTH is it with all these "we need to convert to a more efficient file format" things? It has suddenly gone to 4% complete and downloading.

Try a force verify of the game files in the options menu on the launcher.

"update: I found on another site, that Teamviewer running in background can interfere and stop the launcher from working. Since I had Teamviewer running, after shutting it down, the launcher worked! Now updating the game files, I hope the game will start after all."

    and it works now!

and it won't let me create a character!

and apparently it is because I tried to have a two letter middle name!

    Must give that a go!

Bought an Armitage in the ship sale, was tempted to call it Shanks but thought better of it, it's Ark Royal.

Did the intro mission. Remember it from the beta now, except this time without everything being a "OH HEY WE ON BETA!" juddering mess of server spam. I guess I go do stuff now!

btw just so people know foundry missions are currently bugged, basically NPC's (allies and enemies) disappear randomly, in fact my mission doesn't seem to of been republished in the automatic republish so.......

Plenty of the Romulan content is rather buggy as well, some of the patrol missions having enemies that just sit there and do nothing as you blow them into fragments (the relic recovery has several for example) and the Romulan red alert still says it's Borg that are the problem (if you ever get into one that works you'll see it's Tholians).

I think this season was a bit of a rush job to say the least.

More patch notes, a modest amount of dilithium for doing reputation missions is a nice change.

I swapped out my Peregrines for Delta Flyers with my Armitage and they seem a bit more sturdy but you only get two per flight instead of three, they tend to get too close to exploding warp cores anyway so it's just as well the cooldown on launching more is pretty short! Really enjoying the ship though, doubling up on my the point defence system with torpedo spread 3 means I throw out a stupidly huge amount of photons on something like SB24. It also paints a huge target on my ship as well so I'll have to investigate doing something to mitigate the aggro because it gets a tad painful. :-)

Looking forward to seeing what the Romulan Scorpions are like when they finish cooking in the rep project.

Got my Romulan Scorpions in my hanger now too!

Bloody handy the Borg event in the Defari sector gives Omega rep, everyone knows what they're doing so it's a nice earner.
