    There is zero chance of me not loving this so much I'll briefly consider having sex with the disc (but pass on the opportunity). I'm especially loving the "Path to" series, charting what happens between TNG and this new, turbulent universe.

    I was coming back for STO reasons, but all I get it penis noses. That's why EG rules, 2 pages in and we're on to facial genitalia :)

    I'm probably going to invest in a proper gaming rig for this. Even if it gets awful reviews (though I suspect I'll be attempting to get into any beta by any means necessary so I'll play it way before then) I'd pay for a new PC just to play this at full settings. Not that my current machine wouldn't happily run it, it can do Crysis playable enough. But I want it to look glorious!

    There's not much concrete yet, but we know the combat will be a slower, tactical affair. I'm thinking it'll be very Starfleet Command-ish, but with an MMO style skill bar instead of all the special weapons overlaoding etc options.

    Which I'm going to love. Going into battle against honourable Klingons, not knowing what skills that crew has, trying to get in close to use a special ability I'll make up called Point Blank that does incredible damage up close, when they cloak super fast using Cloak Mastery, pop up behind me, and take chunks out of my shields.

    Apart from the slower pace, we also know the Crew wil act almost as pets, trainable and ranking up as you play.

    I can see usual MMO classes almost being mirrored too, such as Klingon ships having great damage (Ranged DPS, Melee DPS if it's close range), and the Federation having special shield skills or energy transfer abilities (Tank and Healer). I'm sure whatever abilities and ship types there are that lead to this will be balanced enough.

    I keep forgetting about the planet based combat too, where I'll get to see my own captain properly and take in enemies like the Borg! That might be a bit more like a standard MMO I'd imagine, but it's a good counterpoint to the ship combat. I hope.

    It's not just as simple as Federation Vs Klingons, it's 2 alliances at war, closer to the Dominian Wars than just 2 races being mean to each other. And it's not as if there won't be times where you form uneasy alliances with each other for the greater good (against the Borg or a certain Species 8472 who have been pretty much confirmed).
