I always presumed that in OFP and the like, you don't control the cursor/crosshair, you control the weapon itself, the crosshair just being a reflection of that. Might explain the delay you're experiencing.

I do fondly remember those times. Especially playing on the slightly tweaked versions of the multi-player maps that came with the game that allowed for a sensible form of respawn.
I think that could happen, I do rather miss the old OFP days, some of us were probably playing that almost every night for months.
I still remember an 'after hours' mission where only three of us where left and did that 'assault the convoy' mission where if you were a bit lucky you could hijack a Russian tank and then show the enemy the true magnitude of your anger only to find out that near the fuel depot that you were supposed to 'secure' was a nest of angry T80. Hilarity ensued containing and not limited to running away screaming in a tank. Someone jumping out of the tank to 'distract' the T80. Hiding in the last bush in the meadow while trying to avoid the three swarming and very angry T80. And of course gloriously blowing up the fuel depot destroying the last of the T80 and failing the mission.
So how probable is it that the Eurogamer Irregulars reform for ArmA II? -

One question could kill or further encourage the idea of purchasing it... Are you forced into playing tank missions?
They were the worst bit by far in OFP as they had the worst controls I think I've ever come across. I don't think I could face it again. -

Registered 8 years agoSounds like you've got quite a bit of choice as to how missions play out, so you may not be forced into driving a tank. The tank controls were fine in ArmA 1 though. -

Registered 11 years agoMan it sucks that I can't run this.
The OFP MP sessions we had are still up there as some of the best gaming I've ever had online. I recall we started making missions for us to all play too.
I hope OFP 2 is decent and the Xbox version not braindead. -

Registered 8 years agoI think I only played 1 or 2 tank missions in ArmA, one of them was entirely my own choice. I imagine it won't be that prevalent. -

Looking forward to this here, loved OPF but strangely found ArmA a bit of a letdown.
Co-op missions on this will be most fun. -

Wouldn't have thought so. They did port OFP to the original Xbox, but it was a horrid port and sold about three copies. Plus the complexity's been ramped right up - I don't see how it would be feasible on a controller.

Registered 8 years agoOFP was a fantastic game and I even made a couple of levels with the editor. I could well be up for purchasing this if the MP is good enough and there are a few EG'ers going to purchase it as well. -

Registered 11 years agoOFP2 is coming out on console. And I thought BIS said they were looking into, or hope to do a port of ArmA 2. Second that I can't see how it'd be technically possible though. -

Same here, ArmA was one of the reasons I bought a new PC and then ended up hardly touching, I know it got better through patching but I could never summon enough enthusiasm to reinstall.Co-op missions on this will be most fun.
OFP co-op is still my #1 best video gaming experience, utterly superb stuff and considering how lazy I can be when it comes to game editors I made plenty of missions for it.This space left intentionally blank.

they shouldn't, they should stick to making their PC coding better.

Registered 11 years agoNot that I can play it, but does ArmA2 have a dynamic campaign? Have they done an official version of that Capture the Island mod that was about for OFP? That was pretty cool.
urban - if I had a PC that could run, I'd agree with you.

Registered 10 years agoI'm another of those who loved the original Op Flash but just couldn't get on with ArmA. Still, the general level of enthusiasm for this is much higher - not that being a sucker for the original meant it wasn't a certain purchase anyway.
I'll certainly be up for some co-op whenever I get around to buying it, too. It never fails to be entertaining. -

PLay the game for a couple of minutes, die often, then decide to join the army and get shot for real. Works for me (not)! Watching the beach landing sequence to "Saving Private Ryan" is also a bit offputting.....Gammerz wrote:
