The show aired here in Denmark (think it was season 4) and I absolutely loved it to bits.

Watching Razer crush lesser robots and Hypnodisc smash them apart was *awesome*.

Havent had a chance to view it, but BattleBots in the US is supposed to be like Robot Wars on steroids.

    Mmmmm...... Warhead.

There are some really disturbing people in this world, and the roboteers (meh) seriously need to get a life. It's like Anorak Heaven, it really is.

Oi!. George was an anomaly - most of the 'teers would blend in quite nicely on the Gametards page...

It was mildly amusing in season 1, but afte ryou'd seen 4 or 5 episodes you reaslised it was all the same. God knows how they managed to get a second season and loads of merchandising out of it.

Lets watch a bunch of guys drive some elaborate remote control cars about a warehouse. Yay!

    Dull Dull Dull.

Nonono! (from what Ive seen) of the first episodes, they were crap - the later series had MUCH more destructive robots!

Dunno. I think its good until the novelty wears off, and so it probably doesn't matter which ones you watch.

I saw Craig Charles on some late night thing, and he waa wearing 70's gear and had a fro, but I don't think he was taking the piss.

For me, Craig will always be that bloke doing the clever poetry on Night Live.

I love seeing the faces of roboteers crumble as their pride and joy gets trashed by the house robots. "That took me 3 years of my life.. now look.... *sob*"

I *used* to love Robot Wars but after so many series of it, it got a bit same old same old.

Loved the house robots though :)

Beans greens, tangerines, low cholestoral margarines...

(only bit of a craig charles poem I can remember)

Robot Wars: I work in a department where everyone's obsessed with it, and obsessed with building robots but funnily enough none of 'em have ever qualified (probably because their robots are usually rendered dead by chickens coughing)

I liked Full Metal Challenge. Like Robot Wars but with cars and Henry Rollins.

Robot Wars died when the robots started flipping themselves upright 7 times a match.

could of also been that razor and hypnodisk had weapons that would utterly destroy robots and people didn't feel like investing all that time and money to get destroyed in the first few seconds of the fight.

With that said Razor was a very pretty bit of engineering.

Used to watch it when Craig Charles was the host (was he always the host?). Sir KillaLot and Shunt were the best.

When they gave matilda that flywheel, that was nasty to watch. I also missed it when they got rid of the gauntlet as that tested driver skill more and didn't generally result in the players robots getting destroyed in the first round.

That's the little fucker that started it all. Flipped my beloved Road Block and killed my childhood.

I always liked the IDEA of Robot Wars but, in practice, very little actually seemed to happen!

Series 1, then Clarkson took the reigns.
