PS3 will play them but it is quite picky on the type of H264. They need to be in Main level 4.1 I think. Anything else won't work, and to top it off, that is a different level of H264 that the PSP plays. It will play them streaming from a PC no problem

Easiest solution: DivX, it will play everything I've thrown at it, but H264 took longer to encode and was much more painful to get working. Likewise, PS3 will happily play them streaming from Windows media Centre on Vista.

I use Xvid4psp to encode to x264 and its very fast.

try GotSent to make sure your x264 or mkvs work properly.

    works for ps3 & 360.

Damn, maybe thats why Im having problems getting the PS3 to play the mp4's I have. Any way to tell which profile the video is? That what GotSent does maybe. Only problem there is I'm not running Windows on the box with my video files on it.

Dunno how you'd do it in Windows mate as I'm on OSX.

I use Linux. Although I could a file over the windows box to check. Sure there is something I can use to sort it though. Least I know the probable problem now.
