I want to play Rise of the Triad now. Turning into a dog and hitting magical baseballs ftw.

I second this question! Also, can you like, copy that entire folder and send it to me? CHEERS! ;) Also, why does your screen look different to mine and all that jizz like saying how room is left on your HD - Leopard?
    /macnoob

edit: ah, you answered before I posted. Then the site kept on being weird on me and not letting me edit.

Would be worth it for Freespace alone. However I remain very cynical about "Vista Compatibility". EA never managed that with the battlefield games, let alone anything else ;)

Just found Quake II 1.1 which lets me install the files of my game CD and runs QII under Cocoa :D

    All's good.

Freespace 2 is public domain now, meaning you can dl it for nothing anyway.

    No it isn't.

They've released the source, but not the assets.

Weird, I remember downloading it from a site, possibly linked from theunderdogs about 5 years ago.

Still, I trust your knowledge on these things more than I trust my memory.

It was on Underdogs at one point, yeah, but half the stuff on HOTU is legally gray anyway. Our basic rule was "considered free unless told otherwise".

Which is probably why the ESA got so hot on us and tried to shut us down seventy zillion times. Now it's a barren, horrid wasteland with a stagnant forum full of retards desperately clinging to the decaying corpse of a site.

The golden age of abandonware is truly over now. Oh well.
  • Deleted user 14 July 2008 22:12:06
Hah. It's actually still on HOTU. So if you can tolerate the absolutely piss-poor download speeds (we're talking 2k/s here, people), then grab ahoy.

Abandonware has become somewhat less over the years, people seem to see more value in IPs and assets these days.

    But yeah, HOTU was awesome.

Long story short, because the owner doesn't give a shit yet refuses to relinquish control to anyone else.

She's been saying repeatedly since Jan 2006 that she's "working on an update". The plan was to move it to a wiki style, but nothing really happened about it, and any offer of help was pretty much ignored. We've harrassed her about it countless times, but she even ignores us now.

    Bummer.

I kind of know how it is though, she's probably waiting for that spark of motivation.

I wouldn't mind playing both Fallout games to be fair.

Just get the Fallout Collection. Fallout 1 & 2 and Tactics. They work fine on XP. It's available for about 3 on Amazon Marketplace.

Anyone been trying these in Vista then? Didn't get an email for the Beta anyway, unless it's an open one?
  • Deleted user 5 August 2008 14:30:46
Just received mail saying the closed beta will now be open for everyone who registered, but it'll be delayed slightly due to overwhelming demand.

Also got in today, everyone did I assume?

Let me get this straight - after I buy something, I can download it as many times as I want on other PCs?
