It's a damn good deal. I recommend Unmechanical. Though the visuals are a massive rip-off of Machinarium, it's just incredibly playable and has genuinely clever puzzles.

I don't actually rate Resonance all that much. It's terrifically polished and does absolutely amazing things with the creaky old AGS engine, but there's also a layer of tedious pixel-hunting and trial-and-error gameplay over it.

I bought uplink but the text was too small for me to read :(

Still, got Machinarium and some point and click games, happy times

    Good spot, w00t!

Not come across Gog.com before, but just bagged 'A New Beginning' (I'm a sucker for a decent point 'n' clicker), for less than 4.00.

    Bargain!

Worth pointing out that Alpha Centauri was just updated with the Alien Crossfire expansion.

@meme Do you have to re-download the entire zip file again to get the update?

Is anyone else finding the GoG site laggy at all? Especially when clicking on games to download.

lagless for me, but I use chrome these days as Firefox seems slow and a resource hog. Might be that.
  • Deleted user 20 December 2012 17:30:38
Yep. It's only 400MB or so though.

The lag's probably because of their massive sale.

    $4.99 is less than $5.99....

They probably mean 50% off the rrp
  • Deleted user 21 December 2012 03:43:56
They put up all the Interplay stuff to $9.99 a couple of months ago.

The sale was great. I got Alan Wake: American Nightmare, FTL and Neverwinter Nights all for under $15 so about around 9.

    That's a lovely spot, thank you. :)

I was just on GOG's front page and noticed that Freespace 2 is advertised at $4.99 and 50% off. Are GOG putting up their prices? It used to be $5.99...
Yay i was literally just looking at this the other day and held off cause it didnt have alien crossfire, glad i did now :)

Are there any other games that are being sold on GoG that end in checksum errors?

I have had two so far. Icewind Dale 2 Complete and LoK: Defiance. /sad panda

I got an answer to this via e-mail. Apparently, the reason these checksum errors occur are down to the amount of connections. Some of the mirror sites used to speed up the downloads cause a problem. In the e-mail, GoG suggested that I reduce the connections to 1. Which worked, so I have all the games purchased downloaded.

Picked up Alpha Centauri just now, for my first ever GoG purchase. I have absolutely no time to play it, but whatever.

You're not supposed to actually play games you pick up for cheap anyway. They're there to sit in your library and make you think "I should play that one day". Whilst you're there, you should pick up some of their free games like Beneath A Steel Sky.

I bought all the Legacy of Kain games, they all seem to run fine and work great with a controller, although you'll need something like xpadder to set it all up properly.

Shame they've never released the Dreamcast version of the original Soul Reaver though, which had far better character models and textures.

Great news - Gog have finally sorted the rights and have got SS2 up on Gog! Tomorrow though, so you'll have to wait.

Looks like it'll be a good version too - supports mods, has the soundtrack, maps of Von Braun to name but a few features

Even though I've still got it on disk, I've got to get this version!

RPS have an article on it

    Edit - too slow :)

The last time I finished it the game it was barely running on XP, with an old(ish) Nvidia card and lots of messing around with drivers and patches. This time it's supposed to work flawlessly with XP, Vista, 7 and 8, with support for mods.
