IOS demo was great. Slide down to reveal drawn breasts.

    And the free game is...

    Fallout 1!
  • Deleted user 5 April 2012 18:55:26
Fallout 1 free for 48 hours.

Wonder if there's anyone who doesn't actually own that. Seems more of a kick in the teeth to the long-term fans, given it was basically the first game you could buy.

Bit of a shitty presentation, all things considered. Mostly a Witcher 2 advert, with a halfhearted mention of 'some more classic old games will come soon' without any sort of tease or reveal as to what, then a couple of 'premium releases' that are hugely overpriced.

    Bleh.

Blimey, is that considered old now?

(In either case, it's certainly not good.)
  • Deleted user 5 April 2012 19:01:53
It's not even listed as their 'old' games, it's their new 'premium' releases.

Honestly believe they're going to mostly give up with old games now, maybe trickling them out one a month or less.

As it was said before, Fallout is free for the next 2 days.
Besides the game, you also get a bunch of extras like the soundtrack, artwork and the Fallout Bible, a 205 page full of details about the Fallout world and the games.

I've never played a Fallout game and only made a GOG account last week, so this news is very much welcome.

I like it when he's angry.

The only thing about their update that I approve of is that there is no longer an extra empty shelf at the bottom of my collection, taunting me to fill it.

    Bliss.

Nice heads up LFM - the Fallout Bible sounds interesting. I've been lazy, I think the last thing I read was the Starcraft 2 manual

I didn't re-buy it when GOG started (choosing Fallout 2 and Freespace 2 for the buy-one-get-one-free) so I'm happy enough to have a download copy. :)

    Darkstone is out today for 5.99$ / 4.60 / 3.80

The world is living under the dark shadow of a nefarious dragon. Villagers are turning into stone. Armies of skeletons, swarms of wasps, and lumbering ogres lurk everywhere. Evil is spreading like wildfire. And you're the only one who can put an end to it.

Scattered across the kingdom are seven ancient major crystals which together invoke the power of the Orb. Without it, you have no hope of defeating your fire-breathing nemesis. You will creep through dungeons and castles, explore the wilderness, encounter traps, curses, and puzzles on your quest to unearth the crystals. It may take months. It may take years. It may take away any hope you ever had of living a normal, productive, twentieth-century life.

Darkstone is a classic hack'n'slash game with everything a good game of its kind should have: randomly generated loot, four character classes, a well-implemented cooperative mode, and four difficulty levels that use the well-known Diablo-style formula of each level being the possibility of further progression for you character. In addition, the game mechanics are extremely smooth and fluent. Bottom line, if you feel like killing some evil monsters and save the world in the process you cant possibly go wrong with Darkstone

Looks pretty good, never heard of it though.

As a relatively new GOG user, I've been meaning to get Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, Populous and perhaps giving the Baldurs Gate games a try.

It was good back in the day. The thing I remembered must was how shocked I was when I found out that this was done by the makers of that awesome Moto Racer series.

Signed up to GOG for the free Fallout (never played it) but after downloading it I ended up getting Beneath a Steel Sky instead!

Completed that in a few hours though (I had vague memories from when I originally played it years ago so remembered the solutions to the more difficult bits).

And I'll probably purchase and play Cannon Fodder now before I get round to Fallout...

It seems Legend of Grimrock has indeed been released. It will cost you 13.49$ / 8.50 / 10.30 until the 18th, then it will back to the regular price of 14.99$ / 9.40 / 11.42 .

Theme Hospital is still genuinely brilliant, even today. Holds up amazingly well.

I'm almost tempted to buy it again just so I don't have to use the CD. I never did manage to find a working no-CD hack for the original.

Just don't let your machines break down totally, they take up space forever if they do!

I used to love Theme Hospital! Shooting the rats was a fun diversion.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.
