Might grab that, my joystick needs to come out of the closet. Also might get Blood 2 just for nostalgia, I used to play the shit out of the demo and I never got to play the full game.

So I downloaded Treasure Adventure Game and its wonderful and sweet and i've already done a little exploring. Everything about it is pushing all my Mario/Zelda/RPG buttons. I can tell i'm gonna love it. There's a warmth and charm to the game that is very welcoming.

I love that NPCs have their own sleep schedules.

    Also, HATS!

If you are going to get in on the Blood deal, you might also want to check out this feature-rich launcher which also includes a selection of mods, maps and preconfigures the game Blood to run with modern shooter key settings.

And it's free too! It's a great little game, I downloaded it a while ago when I was on a free indie game binge and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Was TA: Kingdoms any good? I remember a lot of love/hate responses to the game.

Good Old Games is dead, long live GOG.com! At least it's just the long-rumoured rebranding in order to sell newer games, not a follow-up on that idiotic stunt from 1.5 years ago.

New releases too: The Whispered World (new pain threshold - 14.99$) and Trine.

Love GoG.com. Would be nice if there was a client with friends list attached though. Obviously wouldn't have to be compulsory to use, and without DRM. Keeping my eye out for a D+D sale.

Is it just me, or is their website a bit screwed up at the moment? :/ Thought they might have been having Chrome problems, but looks awful in IE as well.

Edit: well I can't actually see how to buy things in their sale now, but Arcanum is probably well worth $3.

Edit again: it's fixed now! o_O

Feck it, have enough games to go and play already but I just went and bought Arcanum. I vividly remember reading a review of it in an old issue of either PC Gamer or PC Zone and thinking "That sounds great!", then promptly forgetting about it until sometime last year :)

Decent on its own. Not a worthy sequel to TA and many others that have easily surpassed it since. It's not worth your time for anything other than a historical curiosity.

If you're after Total Annihilation there is always the free version of it called TA Spring.

Since nobody owns the Total Annihilation brand anymore from what can be worked out, it official died with Cavedog studios since there were A) independent and not owned by a bigger corporation IIRC and B) Not bought out by anyone when it got dissolved it means the Total Annihilation games nolonger have any real owners.

Which actually makes me wonder...where does the money go when the games are pretty much abandonware?

I'm assuming straight to GoG since they made the time and effort to update them to run on modern machines...which is fair play really.

Though if Total Annihilation + the three expansion packs (I know one was a mission pack, one introduced hovercraft and one introduced the Krogoth + extra units) are going for less than a tenner give it a whirl.

If nobody owns it then why is Supreme Commander not called Total Annihilation 2?

Actually, now that I've done a bit more research, the rights to the Total Annihilation the name has gone to Atari.

Weird I swore I could remember at the time people saying that the reason the original make of Total Annihilation couldn't get the name for Supreme Commander was because it was lost in some kind of weird thing where nobody was sure who owned the series.

    Anyway...my bad.

So, Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder? Unless they plan to give away Lands of Lore or Ultima 7 from their current catalogue.

GOG will be doing their Spring Conference in 1 hour. They are going to talk about the changes to the site, a preview of future releases and they will give all users a free game.
You can watch it on Games Radar.
