PS: for those of you whose wrists are troubled by a lot of press ups, these take a lot of strain off them:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9252206.htm

They do make press-ups a little harder though, and also (they say) have some other benefits.

W3/D1 again, felt much better and managed 25 on the final set this time.

    Ave it!

Give yourself £5 or ½ gig, you're worth it.

Nicely done. I did W3/D1 today as it goes, just about managed 50 on the final set.

Fucking pressups. I decided today that to increase the workload on my guns and improve them more rapidly, I would do pressups morning and night, rather than just once a day. So this morning I jumped out of bed and got down to do my set and... cricked my neck. Now I can't do any pressups, and I couldn't even go for the run I meant to go for. And the only exercise I can do now is some neck stretching exercises which make me look like a retard with my head lolling about.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Struggling for motivation, only just completed W3/D2. 30 in the final set, so I'm slowly improving.

Give yourself £5 or ½ gig, you're worth it.

Did week 1, even by the end of the week I seemed to be improving. Week 2 starts tomorrow. Pretty sure mine aren't terribly good form, but there's no Sargent to bollocks me so who cares!

I'm intrigued by this. I've always been fit but my arms and upper body strength is really small.

Anyone do the full program? Did you feel a difference?

I guess it's back to the couch and bag of chips then! :p

Do what your body tells you, spot on.

Been doing my stretches to improve the range of my neck, and last night I was able to do my first batch of pressups, though I'll be the first to admit I only went down until my gut hit the floor. Even went for a short run today.

I'm on week one. Are you guys doing it morning or evening? The morning seems harder work but easier to fit into normal life.

Yeah, I've W4/D2 to complete later on. This is actually my second attempt at week 4, although I just about managed to struggle through last time. Took a look at week 5, got scared and thought I'd better spend a bit longer building up to it.

I think my problem is, I'm not taking any days off as I'm down the gym on non press-up days anyway. I had been working the press-ups into a circuits routine as well, but that's clearly not going to work as this thing is really starting to ramp up the difficulty.

W3/D2 for me tonight, did 25 on the final set for W3/D1. There's definitely a bit of bulkage appearing on the back of the arms especially and now my arms are getting stronger I can feel the pull on the core more.

    Must...keep...going...

Yeah!! C'mon guys! Ditto on the guns feeling tighter, firmer. I think I'm going to nail this.

Still need to find time to do the exhaustion test at the end of week 2! Monday was my only chance as been away with work - hopefully find 10 mins later tonight.

Glad this has been bumped - it's reminded me that I need to do week 3 day 3. I'll do it at lunchtime.

31 at the end of week 2. Given I managed about 10 at the start, I think it's having an impact!

Thought I would give this a go. Did the initial assessment thing and decided to start on WK3 D1. I wonder how many weeks until crippling neck/elbow/wrist injury (delete as appropriate)...

When I've done press-ups in the past it has usually been 3 sets to failure. I find that five shorter shorts seems to hurt a lot more. Either that or I am older/fatter/more unfit...

Am using an app to keep track of my push-up routine, am at W3/D2 but realised only now that I 'cheated' by performing them the wrong way - my back wasn't completely straight (i.e. I kept my hip too high) and therefore didn't go down as much as I should've.

The app suggests repeats of around 50 per exercise, broken down to up to 12 repeats (set of 5). Would've expected to see that increase a lot more but then it's probably based on my last endurance test in which I only managed about 20 in one go... and I do struggle with completing the current exercises (but still just about finish them).

So I think I might start the whole thing from scratch and do the push-ups properly this time. How quickly do you guys do them though? The slower the harder obviously... from my gym experience from yester-decade I seem to remember that less-but-slow is better than fast-and-many... not sure what is more effective with pushups though.

But overall great piece of exercise, definitely feel a difference in my arms, shoulders and chest being more defined (GF is happy!), thanks to you crazy EG-fitness-nerds:)
