Hmm, I've just been swimming training... will report back on how pathetic my performance is as a result.

If any members are contemplating on taking "The EG 100 Push-up thread" seriously; then why not do 100 sit-ups on your rest days? You donít have to do 100 push-ups or sit-ups in the one set; just build up gradually doing 5 sets of 20. 18 month ago I was so unfit and overweight that I had difficulty getting in and out the bath; Iíve now lost over 90lb and I feel like a new man, my wife felt the same and has left me for a fat cunt.

Though in fairness, I haven't done a proper pushup since I left secondary school (fuck you, Mr Waye).

Managed 10 before fearing for my life. They were proper manly ones though. None of that lying there and nodding a couple of times. No sir.

    53.

And I've only been getting drunk and snorting coke for the past week. Even though that wouldn't impact my fitness level in any significant way it nevertheless makes me AWESOME.

    Right. I'm there.

Initial test, 15. Which is 14 more than I expected. I didn't even think I had the technique down properly.

    I could do 23.

I have a weird body shape. Thin arms and wrists with a broad chest and rugby player thighs (used to play rugby). My wrists gave in at 23 rather than my chest.

If I'm going to do this, it'll have to be the wussy knee version of push ups. When I tried it yesterday my formerly broken toe was making some really alarming pain with so much weight on it and I only have wet noodles for muscles in my arms.

So - 100 wussy knee push ups here I come.

You'll be surprised how quickly your body responds - after a week, you'll notice the difference, and after a month you'll be kicking sand in the face of weaklings.

Even when I was stupidly fit I couldn't do more than 50. Same reason I've never been able to bench press much... my collar bones got fucked up for me when I was younger. =/

I can do 100 girly press ups though. \o/

Think I'll start this myself tonight. Have no upper arm strength whatsoever.

I got quite into a training regime, and my aim was to be able to do 100 press-ups in one sitting (so to speak). I topped out at around 85-ish - after that, I hit a ceiling which I just couldn't pass (without passing out).

Do them on your knuckles so you can keep your wrists straight.

A useful tip I found was to alternate sets - so one set would be done with your hands beneath your shoulders, and one set with your hands placed close together (thumbs touching). The latter are tricky :)

I'm using a powerball to get my wrist strength back up. Most useful when playing squash which is my main choice for cv exercise.

I see no-one has claimed they can do one handed pushups yet :)

I could do 100 crunches. I can manage about 20 push-ups before my arms feel like they're going to fall off.

Christ, no! I've tried... and failed, generally with *massive damage* to my wrist and ego.

    63. My hands are actually shaking a little bit.

As for one-handed.... well.... 4. Leave me alone, it felt like my shoulder was separating.
