My personal favorite is Shoalin Vs Lama. I love classic chop sokey. But, Ong Bak is probably the best I've seen in recent times.

Yeah, I agree, but I thought it went nicely with the list Tonka had put together.

Sorry, Fist of Legend. There's not a lot of wirework in that, and the final bit between Li and the Japanese guy is one of the best martial arts fights ever put to film. Nothing compares.

...maaaaybe Drunken Master 2. With the hot coals and the guy with the high kicks.

Which Japanese guy? The final fight or the one on the mountain. Personally my favorite scene in that film is the one with his friend in the courtyard.

I dont think Kung Fu Hustle or Fearless have been mentioned yet.

I also second (or is it third?) Ninja Terminator. I too am a proud owner, & watch it at least 3 times a day.

    It's your favourite dish!

    +1 on those two.

Fearless would be my favourite for pure fight scenes out of the two though as it has a great variety of fight types and if they are using effects/wire work it is not too blatant.

Kung Fu Hustle is probably a more enjoyable film but its more an effects fest than a martial arts film in my view.

    Yep, looking forward to that.

As for the OP, I'll put in another mention for Once Upon a Time in China, Part 2. Just can't beat the Jet Li vs. Donnie Yen combination!

Shame ol' Bruce Lee ain't around, would love to see a stand-off between him, Chuck, Jet, Donnie, Tony Jaa, Seagal and JCVD. Major battle royale!

    Prodigal Son.

This. Me and Harry watched this one C4 around 12 years ago in the middle of the night. It was awesome.

I can't find my DVD of it, I have the case but it's empty.

    /cries

Lam Ching-Ying is brilliant in it as the stage queen cum Wing Chun expert. He also directed the action sequences. He also trained Michelle Yeoh for her action sequences in the films she did early on. Died at 44 of liver cancer.

    /cries again

Sammo Hung also appears and demonstrates graceful skill and comedic timing during a memorable calligraphy scene.

Yuen Biao is also very good in it. In the final fight, he's actually dressed as his opponent in one shot as Frankie Chan was unable to perform a certain kick. You'll know it when you see it, it's quite impressive.

Prodigal Son is a great film. Shame Yuen Baio didn't do more films, his acrobatic skills were fantastic.

He appears in over 130, can't vouch for the quality of them all, mind.
