OK, got a PS3 bundle a few weeks ago and one of the games packaged was Vegas 2. Now I would usually never have considered buying this kind of game personally (and still wouldn't play it single player) but me and the Mrs thought we may as well give it a go in split screen, co op, on the story mode. We got truly addicted and really want more of the same.

So basically I'd just like to know, what are the best other similar games that have split screen cooperative modes which let you play through the story/campaign mode with a friend?

    I support this thread...

Need to know more of these sorts of games because I love local co-op.

Resistance is the only one I've tried co-op, but it's a very very good one.

Pro Evo, and you don't even have to split the screen.

    Super Stardust HD

It's not split screen, but it is co-op and it's a great game.

Yeah, I've got that, really cool game but again it's a bit too "gamey" for the other half. She likes shooting people in the head with sniper rifles, it must involve this kind of thing or she won't play it with me :(

Dynasty Warriors Gundam. Sure, you're probably not a DW fan, but there is something relaxing about smashing giant robots up with laser swords, especially with a co-op friend doing the same. I think the demo might even support this, but don't quote me on that.

EDIT: I posted before the headshot love was stated, but many have said Army of two is a laugh co-op, although rent it if you can. Not me, I've never played it, but I can't help relaying other people opinions.

If it's for you and the missus I'd highly recommend Lego Star wars. Fabulous for two.

In my opinion the best coop and split screen game is Rainbow Six Vegas, is poor in graphics but is very good to play with a familiar or friend.

I'd hardly call Tekken DR, Virtua Fighter and Fight Night co-op games, although I agree Tekken is awesome. Virtua Tennis is a good one though, doubles is lots of fun.

    Yes on both counts.

Army Of Two. Such a greasy kebab of a game.

PJM is a good laugh in co-op too. Its a great blame game.

I put together a database of offline (local as opposed to online) games on different platforms so that you can search by platform and by other criteria such as whether they are split screen or not - check it out at I have put together a database of these games on my website - offline cooperative games. You can search by platform, by whether or not it is split screen and by other criteria. Check it out:

I agree, me and my son are loving this. I honestly dont understand the hate for it. Its a very good game. Generic but then aren't they all really?

IMO Resistance is one of the less generic FPSs because of the setting and the excellent weaponary.

    Online is/was ace to.
