The blu ray films have started to drop in price on amazon as well. to the 10-13 quid mark. Which is still expesnive, but much better than the 15-20 that they were.

I treated myself to nausicaa the other day. great film.

@joelstinton got my eye on the Arietty deluxe edition at 13 quid. Hovering over the buy button but really don't have any time to watch it!

Tempted also by Nausicaa and Laputa...

I've already got the deluxe blu-ray of Arrietty; quality product.

I was disappointed this morning to see that Mononoke isn't available on blu-ray :(

Wonder if they had to rename Laputa for the Spanish release...

    Yep - "Lapuntu". Hehehe

Spirited Away is the main one I want on Blu-ray after Nausicaa!

@Murbal: Where did you find Laputa for 10.60?

They are showing Grave of the Fireflies and My Neighbour Totoro at my local arts cinema. In Japanese. But I have no babysitter. 11 months isn't too young for subtitles, is it?

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

I simply adore Spirited Away! Have rewatched it don't even know how many times! I also love Howl's Moving Castle and Totoro.

Btw if you like Miyazaki's works, I guess you would also like the works of Makoto Shinkai :) They are a bit sad, I would say, but really adorable

So, four of the films have been given a Blu-Ray/DVD combo steelbook edition, which have gone up on Amazon for pre-order, releasing on 25th November.

    These movies are:

    My Neighbour Totoro

Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind

    Howl's Moving Castle

    Ponyo

    See them here!

I personally will be getting at least Totoro since I don't have that on Blu-Ray yet.

Yeah apparently Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are being saved for last to convert to Blu-Ray. I'm waiting for those two aswell.

Likey! That Totoro one looks great. Just as well there isn't a Laputa steelbook as I already bought the bog standard blu-ray earlier this year.

Would definitely get Mononoke and Spirited Away too, as these newer films would be best suited for HD. To anyone that's seen it, how does Nausicaa fare in high def?

Nausicaa looks really nice on bluray. Was surprised by how good the film is too. American voice cast has Patrick Stewart, Mark Hamil and Edward Olmos too :D

My wife watched Poppy Hill over the weekend with our 5 year old daughter. Missus loved it, daughter got a bit bored (though that's not uncommon even with films she really likes).

Nausicaa is my favourite Miyazaki film especially due to the manga that he drew and wrote that I also own :)

Porco Rosso on Film 4 at 11.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

    @localnotail

Yeah I noticed yesterday there's a few on this coming week at 11am:

    Today: Porco Rosso
    22: Totorro
    23: Howls Moving Castle
    25: Spirited Away (12.45)

Shame it's the ones Film4 have been showing on repeat for ages but well worth watch for anyone who either hasn't or needs to entertain the wee ones for a couple of hours :)

Yeah, imo they are the three best Ghibli films. Great for anyone that hasn't seen them.

Film Four showed Castle of Cagliostro the other night, it was a bit late so I ended up watching it the next day, what a film, it was the first Ghibli film I watched so it has a special place for me. Although it's not actually Ghibli, right? It's just Miyazaki not under the Ghibli umbrella as such.

It's a great ending. I love that we are denied resolution. It's classier than that.
