From up on Poppy Hill was total Class.

Be careful though, I can't get the main theme song out of my head

“It's not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it's not possible to find it elsewhere.”

I have Arrietty, Ponyo and Howl's Moving Castle on Blu-Ray and they are all great movies. My only disappointment is that they don't have more of the set out on Blu-Ray.

I wish they'd re-release Laputa without that shitty new dub with James Van Derpa Twat

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

Excellent news! Time to empty out the sky box in preperation.

I watched Ponyo with the little lad last week and he was completely enthralled by his first Ghibli film so this has come at a good time.

Thats easter sorted, though my daughter finds spirited away a bit scary. she loves ponyo; arietty, totoro and kiki though, but i guess they are the ones aimed at a lower age range. Theres no way she'll like mononoke until shes older. shed probably like the cat returns, id forgotton about that one.

I've not seen five of those, so it's \o/ for me. Expect for Grave of the Fireflies, which will be a /o\.

Grave of the Fireflies is really depressing.

ZuluHero you should get your daughter to watch Porco Rosso if she has not seen it yet. Very similar feel to Kiki and Totoro.

FYI Kiki is out on Bluray on June 3rd. Instabuy.

My youngest watches Totoro far too much whereas my eldest claims to prefer Howls. I'm just happy to see them enjoying Ghibli in preference to the usual Disney princess nonsense ;-)

Looking forward to the film 4 season mind you; especially Laputa and Tales from Earthsea which I've never seen but love the look of.

    I need all of these.

    Especially the blankets.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

If youve never seen it then definitely check out Castle of Cagliostro when it pops up on film4, one of of my favourite Miyazaki films and certainly my favourite Lupin III film.
Not a Ghibli film as it predates the studio, but Miyazaki's first director gig.

You'll probably find that with the whole season.

    My personal favourite this.

@Murbal I hope so, though the dub on Ponyo wasn't too bad.

I'm sure it says on the film4 site which will be subs and which are dubs.

    @RobTheBuilder

I hope so. I'm bound to forget again though. I have a terrible memory and the Sky+ recorder only lets you record seven days in advance.

I can't stand the Mononoke dub. Got completely the wrong actors for the parts - would've worked better with a bunch of no name redubbers, but Disney tried to relaunch Japanese animation in the US with this film so got a bunch of at the time A-list celebs to do the voices. On the other hand, I think I prefer the Kiki's Ameri-dub to the original - the cat's got sharper lines in the English language version. Totoro english dub is pretty horrible, but then the Japanese soundtrack is only slightly less squeaky, so there's not a lot in it there.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

@HiddenAway Cool, I've just got to remember that anytime about seven days before it to record it.

Which is code for 'I'm going to tell the wife to remind me as she has a far better memory than I do'.
