    A setting in photoshop? What?

Are you seeing the animated gif here? Is it changing from a negative to a black and white picture?
No it's not. Just changing from a negative, to a colour, then to a black and white pic.

Don't be stupid. Watch it again.

Yeah. But isn't it just a colour photo, with the 'predator' type setting on, the colours inversed, or something like that, with the second image a black and white filter?

It appears that way to me anyway.

OK, get me a screenshot of the frame where it is a normal colour photo.
    Fine, give me a sec

For those who don't get it:

    click

Mouse over immediately to see that the second picture is b/w. Now mouse over after starting at the dot for a a while. Your brain tricks you ino thinking the b/w photo is in colour for a couple of seconds.

I do actually have a bad eye condiution at the moment and taking potent drops for it. I wonder if they're having an effect.

And while we're at it, somewhat OT for the thread:

Squares A and B are the same colour.

Just after the negative, just before it turns black and white.

@Deckard1 Yeah, it is, in a way. Your eyes are notorious liars. :)

Check the colours in photoshop or do it the old-school way and print it out and fold it so that A and B are next to each other.

Or copy-paste the pic into Word twice and crop down to the two squares. Craziness! Is the green cylinder necessary for the illusion?

    @monkman76 Pretty thorough explanation here.

    edit:

Actually, not quite as thorough as I remember! Must have read something about it somewhere else I think.

Or hold your hands almost together in from of the screen and use your thumbs to block the bit inbetween. When I did it right, the shades became exactly the same. Now I cannot tell if my eyes were lying in the first place or whether they're lying now!

Endless Fun, comic timing is impeccable

    P.S.

Screw you EG, and your unfathomable linking conventions (unfathomable for my tiny brain)
