I want to buy a shoulder bag/courier bag kind of thing and I am looking for suggestions.
It should be restrained and low key, maybe just a canvas bag or something, or maybe leather or with leather straps or something, definitely not the kind of thing that only someone with a fashionable asymmetrical haircut would carry. For the record, my haircut is a resolutely symmetrical* short back and sides.

Can you point me at some sites where I might find a bag a like? I want to be able to take my sunglasses and my not-sunglasses-glasses with me when I go out, and maybe a bottle of water and a book and/or DS.

*(Lateral symmetry along my axis of travel, not rotational symmetry or anything)

I recommend a bag with a copy of GTA 4 in it.

    Top haircut info, thanks!

Gap do some good medium sized bags.

I think Peej has the ultimate in symetrical haircuts. Multi-axial plus rotational.

    Real men use carrier bags.

The real question is: Are you a Tesco or a Sainsburys carrier bag man? They can be casually draped over the shoulder nonchalently, for best effect quit shaving and wear mismatched torn clothes. Drink heavily also, after all your carrier bag leaves one hand free for such a purpose.

Watch people recoil in terror and cross the street.

I always found man bags to be a bit for the abercrombie and finch wearing crowd...

Personally I'd prefer a leather satchel than the smaller type but unless I'm going to work or off to trade a tone of games I hardly ever carry a bag.

I mean that's why mens coats and trousers have lots of pockets.

    MP3 player + phone + keys + wallet + DS + games + book = carrying a bag everywhere I go.

Some of the Manhattan Portage bags are quite nice in an understated / rugged way and they'll last you a lifetime.

Freitag bags are made from recycled truck tarps so they're all unique. If you shop around you might be able to get one that you love, though they tend to be quite loud.

Exactly, Freitag can be too garish but I rate them 80% on the awesometer.

Mind you, my current manbag has space invaders on the side so who am I to talk...

Looking through the different models of Freitag bags I'm gald to say that I really like the willy.

You see I wouldn't class them as 'Man Bags', because they look more like satchels rather like a more handbag sized bag.

No no no not leather (unless a briefcase)

Leather makes pretty much any bag (however manly the basic design) instantly look gay.

Now if gay is what you are after then leather it is.

I was thinking of smooth leather rather than distressed or suede :)

I simply carry arround a backpack. I can use it over one sholder when I want, and use it conventionally on my motorbike at 260+ without worrying it'll get in the way or slide off somehow.

I've been looking for a smaller "leg bag" though (it needs to be on the leg because of the said motorbike and confort). For those days I don't want to carry the backpack, but I still want to carry some things. I've seen a cool one (straps to the waist and to one of the legs), but people ordering from that biker site had problems in the past so I'm looking elsewhere. Yes, I am aware most men's clothes have lot's of pockets. Motorbike trousers on the other hand, usually have 2 very small pockets (if any at all) and I have trouble fitting a single key in let alone anything substancial.

I was merely trying to separate it from the rucksack - I'm looking for something like a small courier bag or a bit-smaller-than-a-DJ-bag really.
