Just thought anyone who pre-ordered GTA off play.com would like to know, even though it said it was dispatched on the 25th, that's now changed saying that they dispatched today.

To be honest after that blatant lie, I'm getting GTA elsewhere, and probably won't buy off play.com again.

It better arrive tomorrow, it specifically said pre order now to guarantee release day.

If it hasn't I'll just wander into town and buy a copy, then send it back when it arrives.

Mine still says "STATUS Posted: 25/04/2008"

Bah, now I don't know whether to wait or nip out to ASDA.

Unless you live in Jersey, Play couldn't get anything to you for release day unless they threw it to you through a hole in space and time.

    Everyone learns this eventually.

They'll have done it to stop people cancelling and heading to the shops to get one for launch. Not so sure it'll do their PR any favours, but when you're as huge as Play are you can probably get away with things like this.

Did you really expect them to have actually dispatched it on the 25th?

They may have lied, but you can still use common sense.

    Get bent.

You could send it back for a refund or . . . .you could sell it on Ebay and make a mint!

No I expected it to get here tomorrow and since they usually take three days at least 25th makes sense.

Or pick one up from an Asda, and when the Play copy turns up, take it back to Asda for a refund.

    Saves messing with postal returns.

It has been a well known fact for the last 2 years that you do not use Play.Com to get things for launch.

They were okay when they were a bit smaller, now they are to big and just cannot supply what they promise!

Am I better going to Tesco or Asda at midnight to get hold of this game?

Yeah, it's a shame. They used to be amazing.

I still like them though, they have some good prices, and I wouldn't say they were slow. I'm happy to wait a couple of days for a 5 CD.

Maybe if you go to sleepyland now, you'll be wide awake and able to get it from W H Smiths in the morning?

If ever I've had a pre-order for a game from Play and they've only dispatched it a day before release, it's always got to me the next day.
I don't know if they send them from a different location or what, it's always made me wonder myself...

    +1 to Thread starter.

My GTA IV is tracked (It's the SE) and it shows it was posted TODAY)., On my order history on play.com, it shows last week.

AND they took the money out of my account a few days before that.

Play.com gets the infamous Cock of Goats award for this, and their utter failure for delivering GT5p.
Having said all that, it's likely I'll be getting it ON TIME, so other than them taking the money a week before it's delivered, their's not a hell of a lot to moan about really.

    PSN ID: Djini

Play are great, but the simple fact is they're an off-island company who ship most of their stock from home (some items from Peterborough I believe), and are notorious for having the slowest delivery of all popular British etailers.

The don't give a shit about getting a game to you on release because, frankly, their revenue doesn't rely on reputation among the gaming community - unlike your GAMEs, Gameplays and Shoptos.

Their service for non-launch games is still mostly fab, if you can wait that little bit longer.
