I'm not sure which group of people are worse - those who are obsessed with football or those that hate it.

Jesus, it's a Happy St George's Day thread. Please take your futile footy arguments elsewhere, and close the door on the way out.
    Thank you.

Shirley the dislike of football negates the man bit anyway?

I do however, love Pro Evolution Soccer wierdly, although it's not as good as ISS98, it's still a superb bit of gameplay.

Annnnd steering things back on track, I'm pretty sure St George was a cricket man...

As for celebrating my Englishness, I don't particularly feel proud of the chavscum nation we seem to be nurturing at the moment, nor our morally devoid monarchy, our corrupt self centred government, our crumbling monetary system, our shit climate and lastly our perception to nearly every other country in the world, including our island neighbours.

I DONT SEE ITS ANYTHING TO CELEBRATE.

We're a nation steeped in history with some great people living and dead, NOT A GREAT NATION.

Thank you and good fucking night.

It's nothing to do with being superior though is it, it's just a national celebration.

I'm guessing from your use of 'y'all' that you are American, in that case can't you just fuck off and let us get on with it, we get to salute our flag one a year, not every fucking day like you bunch of elitist 'patriotic' pricks, we were once a great empire built on questionable foundations granted, but we did rule most of the planet at one time, and even now we still punch above our weight on the international stage, surely that's something to be proud of.

And now history is repeating itself with the decline of the American empire, can't wait!!

This common conception is what is stopping St.George's Day being more widely recognised. St.George's Day is more about celebrating being English and national pride more than celebrating being "the master race".

When the Irish celebrate St.Patrick's Day, do you believe they are trying to convince everyone they are the Master Race? No? And the Welsh St.David's Day? No?

Let us celebrate being English the same way as the Irish and Welsh are doing.

Yes but we're not allowed to celebrate being English any more. It upsets everyone.

Has it not already been proven that the English are, y'know, shit at everything? Y'all are a boring, dull, unimaginative, untalented race with universally fucked-up teeth, and that's the way we in the rest of the world will always think of you.
