You know your Saint's day is in trouble when even Google has forgotten.

You know it's in trouble when people don't seem to realise today is not St George's day. It's May 2nd this year.

No idea why it's been moved though.
  • Deleted user 23 April 2011 10:12:15
Yep, moved by the Church so it doesn't clash with Easter.

When St George's Day or St Mark's Day falls between Palm Sunday and the Second Sunday of Easter inclusive, it is transferred to the Monday after the Second Sunday of Easter.

Since when do we listen to the church anymore? If I did, I'd be out groping children and stoning women.

Umm, isn't St George's Day in May this year? Something to do with Easter being later than normal?
  • Deleted user 23 April 2011 10:15:17
Yeah, why should we listen to the church about a religious celebration.

It's not religious anymore. Christmas isn't just a religious celebration anymore.

Anyway, how many dragons were there in the Bible? As many as the dinosaurs mentioned?
  • Deleted user 23 April 2011 10:27:47
Easter has nothing to with religion?

    Ok then.

    Fuck the Church.
Happy St George's Day. I'm wearing a rose at my bbq and it's my 10th wedding anniversary.

St George's Day. Keep up. It's not difficult. Have a look at the thread title if you need help.

I like Easter, a celebration of renewal. It's a shame it got hijacked by Christianity.

Easter isn't just a religious celebration anymore either, yet the church moves it around the calendar far more than St George's day and everyone seems to follow it. They invented it so their rules apply.

Fair point, though the interweb seems to suggest that nobody is really paying attention to the moving of St George's Day. Not that you could really tell, seeing as nobody pays attention to it full stop.

Most people adhere to the Church's Easter move, because there's a vast international army of Catholic zombies following them.

Unlike regular zombies, body shots count.

I'm not sure we should be celebrating a guy who kills dragons. Dragons are awesome.

Hold on, If St George slayed a dragon, and St George's Day falls on Easter, and Jesus was killed on Easter...

...does that mean Jesus was a dragon?!?!
