And with that, I'm done for the night. Cheers guys. I had very little idea what was going on. Enjoyable though

That was epic. Those lag free bouts at the end there Crispy could have gone on all night as far as I'm concerned but I doubt my employer would be too keen.

Thingy, choose one character that you like and learn his\her\its moves. I'm crap with the two I know and even worse with anyone else.

    Cheers men!

Thingy, where are you located in the world?
  • Deleted user 17 March 2010 09:39:05
I think the lag is just a four player thing. At least it only comes along in spells.

Jono, I had the same problem as you with the Wii no longer reading the Brawl disc. A lens cleaning kit fixed it up nicely.

We still had the issue after you left cid, wasn't till thingy left that it cleared up.

Which is weird, is it was fine when we first started.

Hmm, 'tis certainly odd. The first 4 or 5 bouts seemed lag free even with 4 player, then it all seemed to go a bit off and stayed that way for the rest of the night. If it happens again, I'll just drop out for a couple of rounds, see if that clears it up.

We could do without it, but enough of each battle seemed lag free.

When the game froze that one time I assumed everyone had quit because that awful Earthbound stage had been picked. :D

The only thing I can think of is that initially someone else was hosting, we then all quit out and joined someone elses game.

The worst stages for me are the scrolling ones, especially the ones going up. It's almost guaranteed that Zelda will suicide early doors. I found this video yesterday that had some techniques I thought I may be able to use last night. The person playing really knows how to recover with her and generally smash the other player to pieces too. I think we can all agree that I failed spectacularly at copying any of those techniques.

Hehe, so I didn't use the classic last night as you can't assign movement to the d-pad :(

Ended up disabling up to jump and assigning jump to C, makes up moves much easier, but I still need to get used to it as a suicided a few times trying to press up to jump :D

Combo vids are always so dramatic. :D

Can't you use the analog on the classic pad, Crisp? I know the positioning isn't ideal, but it does the job. The only thing I don't like about that setup is the lack of rumble.
  • Deleted user 17 March 2010 10:51:19
Well the idea of using the classic was so I could use the dpad, oh well.

I may give the classic a whirl. Too many times with Zelda I've tried to teleport back to the stage and instead done that shield thing and ended up dying. The classic may be more responsive. Most likely, it's probably my cack-handedness at hitting the right spot failing me so it probably won't make a lot of difference.

If you like d-pads so much then why don't you just marry one!?

You should both pick up a Cube pad on the cheap. The thing was made for Smash.

I've got a GC pad too so may try it. Only bought it to play Wind Waker on and I seem to remember I didn't particularly enjoy the controller at the time which is why it's pretty unused since then.

    Anyone fancy a match tonight?
  • Deleted user 18 March 2010 12:41:30
Maybe we'll get more takers if we switch to the main Brawl thread. Some people might not know what this one's about.

Anyone want a few rounds tonight?

Could a mod rename this the Smash Bros - Organise online games?

Can't do tonight. Eating at the moment and then karting. We could let this thread die (again) and resurrect the main Smash thread instead?
  • Deleted user 18 March 2010 20:07:51
Yeah OK, can't find it though :(
