    Red Deads draw distance was roughly the same as what was in the trailer wasn't it?
    And it was pop-up, shimmer, flicker, vaseline heaven. Or hell. :)

    Can't say I remember it being like that. It's been a while though.

    Fish fingers and chips pretty straight forward.

    Have you played it on the 360? That version was allegedly much, much better. I loved the game to bits, but the image quality on the PS3 was absolutely lousy.*

    *Which is why I am a little sceptical regarding that trailer.

    The draw distances shown in the trailer also left me a little skeptical about whether or not that's what we'll see in the finished game and the severity of pop-up and the like.

    I remember RDR being impressive (360) but it wasn't a particularly busy world compared to GTA. Saying that Just Cause 2 had a fairly decent draw distance didn't it and that's a good few years old.

    Just cause 2 certainly did have a good draw distance however the world was totally lacking in detail and most environments were blank or non populated.

    Im going to check the draw distance on RDR tonight for comparison

    They've had a long time to fix the GTA4 and RDR PS3 issues, so I'm going to stay tentatively optimistic for now.

    Below is an interesting article about how rockstar have made sure there is only a negligible difference between the 2 console versions to make sure n on has a whine about one being better than the other.

    In effect, even if one system was capable of better graphics etc then its been throttled to match the other.

    @killersrquiet That doesn't really offer anything new, and doesn't makes my console decision any easier :(

    So what are the chances that GTA5 will get a next gen release possibly along side a PC release? I am eager to ditch the 360

    @imamazed

    I dont think any source of info will be able to make that decision for you. Its not like we will have a demo and any reviews will only appear before release or on that day and i wouldnt want to try and pick up a copy that late.

    @GiarcYekrub

    Guaranteed release on next gen and pc. Who knows when. Rockstar wont talk about or confirm anything that will hinder sales on current gen. I think a pc version would appear before next gen

    Yeh that's true; my decision lies upon HDD space and friends and which version they'll be getting. Still on the fence though, but no new info will help.

    The game looks pretty bloody incredible, but I just can't get over that character switching shite. Looks OK outside missions, but I can't be fucked with jumping between 3 different guys and trying to look after them all when I'm trying to do a level. Too much of a faff. It would be much better if the switches were scripted IMO.

    GTA 3 onwards is very different to what came before though. You could argue that the modern version of GTA was born and raised on consoles.

    LB, you really are a massive geek.

    @graysonavich

    It does seem open to being annoying or like you are missing something better in a mission. For me i'll play through the game at least 5 times anyway so i'll stick with one player the whole way through (unless your forced by the game) then it will be fresh on the next playthrough

    ive played through gta iv about 5-6 times in full (including expansions) so i dont mind either way

    If you believe Rockstar they did actually look at porting it (they do actually want their games on PC just after they've rinsed console sales), it was too big a job (supposedly it's a miracle the game worked on consoles) and they just didn't have the resources to do it.

    I remember there were rumours of a bit of money hatting to keep it console only but unless it suddenly turns up on PC as new machines hit those are probably are just rumours.

    This looks like it could be amazing. The visuals are fantastic. Really not sure new consoles are necessary.

    I'm not totally sure about the character switching, but at least they're trying something new. It'll have to be spot on though, and it should open up some more interesting missions, which GTA was in real need of.

    Also looks like they've remembered to make this one more fun, which is nice.

    @X201

    He's right though, Rockstar North games will always get a port, for some reason San Diego games never do, Only the first game they did as Rockstar San Diego (Midnight Club 2) came over.

    Pretty sure people will complain and say the opposite when the game inevitably has a dodgy frame-rate, pop-up and poor draw distance. Because at the moment it looks a little too good to be true for the current gen.
