@RobTheBuilder I seem to remember being ok with VC. My biggest bugbear was my save corruption at about 64 hidden packages. Couldn't face it again after that.

Vice City Stories on the PSP was a different kettle of fish. Was just too much for the little machine. Buggy, box like, empty... it had no soul.

Except they used the same city. So no.
    A lot of content though!

Anyway, why complain that there aren't enough GTAs? I'd rather get them every few years than end up with an Ass. Creed scenario.

@Widge very true about VCS, that combined with the nub being awful to use meant I gave up on that quite quickly.

San Andreas will always be my favorite. It gets quite a lot of hate which surprises me

So they managed 3 GTA games on the PS2/Xbox with time to spare before the next gens came out, but can barely manage 2 during a generation that seems to have been going on forever... with one coming right when the next gen is about to come out... I'd rather another Red Dead game now anyway.
I'm pretty much certain that the PS3 and LA Noire respectively have played their part in the delay of the GTAs.

Red Dead also turned into a slog if I'm not mistaken.

If they could set themselves up in order that we get a game a year alternating between GTA, Red Dead, Bully, Manhunt and whatever else is up their sleeves, then that would be ideal.

TBH, that's happened if we count LA Noire and Max Payne over the past couple of years. 2010 was Red Dead and 2009-10 had the GTA IV episodes.

If it wasn't for having to wrestle with the PS3 to get GTA IV running, then the episodes probably would have arrived in 2008 & 9, with GTA IV out in Oct 2007.

Again, in addition to the hardware / performance difficulties, The PS3 only made it out in Europe in April/May 2007, so it was way late to the party. The 360 was out in 2005, and got the Table Tennis game the next year if I'm not mistaken.

Looks like the PS4's going to get things right this time, so there's everything to look forward to over the next 12 months.

In Vice City everything in the city existed for a reason and you visited pretty much everywhere at some point for a mission, the music was fantastic and the plot ticked along at a good rate.

In SA the map was far to big for the amount of content the game contained and the whole san fiero part of the game felt unnecessary and nothing that couldn't of been put in los santos or las venturus. Then there was so much wasted space because of the lack of content to fill these vast empty areas. Hell there's an oil refinery in it that could of been a good place for a gun battle but unless you stumble upon it while exploring you never go there.

My thing with SA the whole time it felt big for big sake not because it needed to be that big, it's a not a bad game by a long shot but it also a reminder to me that if you make a vast sandbox to play in you need a shit load more content to make and rockstar didn't really manage that.

I liked betting on the horses in SA. They had dirty names!

I thought there was a lot of variety, imo. Not necessarily in the story missions, but overall. My only issue was that some of the missions were nearly impossible.

SA had a lot of variety but very little in the way of actual missions to justify the need for the massive map the game had, there also tended to not be much reward for exploring either.

Yeah, I always wanted RPG-style chests full of guns and ammo or something that enticed me to explore.

    Has this been mentioned yet?

Flying Lotus is brilliant and has some pretty awesome friends in the alternative music scene (Burial, Four Tet, Thom Yorke, Liars, and basically everyone on Warp records) so this is bound to be one of the best radio stations in the game.

I haven't heard of a single one of those people.

I want a radio station with songs from Willie Nelson and the like.

@DarkSpaceDS You do realise that I said SA was a good game right? Or are you just assuming what I typed instead of actually reading it?

I've got a good idea where you're going next, and seeing as we're putting the GTA world to rights...

People who had a problem with the remote control aeroplane mission were playing it wrong, you can finish it by using only half the fuel. You only need the engine to gain height, the rest is just gliding.

You'll have to do the same that all of us did and just keep at it until you succeed.

    Awesome :)
There's some "painting of" images on the Rockstar site too. With actual action shots of men painting whilst on a scaffold that has been correctly secured to the building, in line with health and safety requirements.

The original Vice City was just meh to me. After the first few missions its run of the mill and you get bored.

Wow you quit after a few missions satisfied that you'd seen the full scope of what was on offer?

Oh wait you didn't say you quit. Still....

    You sad fucker!

VCS on PSP was like playing Half-Life on a fucking C64. The idea was great, and it had all the GTA ingredients. In practice however, it was a headache-inducing technical mess.

On Vita it would be amazing. Or as a HD d/l game. But it was neither.
