    Well, the original model did.

The original is always best, eveyone knows that.

Total immersion without the worry of waking pesky parents.
I was disappointed when I realised the PS3 didn't have a headphone socket.
  • Deleted user 14 April 2008 09:48:29
The console eases the retarded telly worry by providing the crucial socket.
    At least Sega did.

non-retarded companies realise that decent TVs have headphone sockets.
Wouldn't non-retarded companies allow for both, leaving just the elitist companies to expect you to have a decent TV?

TVs can actually come without headphone sockets? Wtf!?!?
  • Deleted user 14 April 2008 09:54:55
    Sega were light years ahead.
It's like the sounds come from your mind with the headphones.
And the slider was genius as well, and comfortably placed.
    The slider also felt robust.

Imagine what innovative features a Sega console would have now.
Sony bigwigs would just shake their heads in disbelief and open jealousy.
Obviously it would have a headphone socket as standard, maybe they could incorporate a 3D element somehow.
Perhaps a visual apparatus, that could be worn by the user allowing them to see 3D.
    Some kind of eyewear.

Combine that with the headphones, and you might as well call it virtual reality.

you could tell which side a car was approaching from in Senna's GP2, using the headphone feature.
    Sega knew.

Luckily, modern consoles feature this crazy thing called "stereo". In some instances even "surround".

It had some nice choons on it, certainly, but it couldn't really cope with samples and there were a LOT of lazy bastard audio bods who never bothered to make it do anything past the bare minimum.

Playing Street Fighter Championship on it after playing the SNES version was painful because of the audio. Graphically, they did an amazing job but the speech sounded terrible.

I was playing streets of rage 2 at my friends house the other weekend on his 32inch flatscreen telly lol quality!

Sega were too brave, their ideas too early.
People probably laughed at Action chair back then, but gaming chairs took off, probably because of Action chair tbh

didn't the megadrive have wireless pads too? I've seen them around on the internet. They work off of infrared though so I doubt the quality is there...

    What about Micro Machines 96?
Controller sockets IN THE GAME CARTRIDGE.
The ideas compared to current gaming is contrasting.

I forgot about that one. Brilliant idea!

Wasn't there one (it might even have been MM 96) where two people could play using the same pad as well?

Ah yes I knew I wasn't going insane.

Such good ideas! Don't see quite as much innovation with ideas like this these days. I suppose you don't need to, what with Xbox Live, PSN, etc but it certainly made things interesting.

    New Micro Machines plz.
