Although I much prefer the Uncharted games the Gears ones are hardly terrible.

Trade the cunt, that will teach it a lesson ;)

actually I feel your pain Ted, I hate QTE's with a passion...I do want to give TR a go though, so no doubt will get totally pissed off as well.

It was a rental anyway. TR doesn't have that many QTEs in truth, so don't be put off. They're just the worst kind.

    @ronuds

The kind where failure is an alternative, less desirable out come, rather than a fail state. There was a clever one in Fahrenheit where you failed if you did the QTE, but succeeded if you ignored it.

I see what you mean. I actually don't believe I've ever played a game where I thought they were done cleverly.

The QTEs in Azura's Wrath are very good. You do not fail but get an inferior outcome.

Azura is however the only game I have ever enjoyed them in.

I appreciated how GoW put the buttons on the associated edge of the screen but still didn't like them.

Edit: Heavy Rain was not bad either as it had alternative outcomes. In that game they served to allow the story progress but did not really add anything to the game.

Bayonetta, again, has some of the worst imo. There's only about 3 in the whole game, but they come out of nowhere and kill you if you fail. Tomb Raider is the same, but there are a few more of them.

God of War is mixed. A few kill you for failing, but most just have you fail to rip out the Cyclop's eye or whatever. They're usually initiated optionally too, so you don't get taken by surprise.

It does, but it puts you back very quickly.

QTEs work kind of OK in Waking Dead where there is zombie right up in your face and a 5 second counter and it's:

    Press X: Save the kitten
    Press Y: Save the bunny

And which ever you press they are probably both going to die horribly pretty soon anyway cos it's the freakin' zombie apocalypse, man

Although maybe those are quick timed decisions rather than quick time events...

EDIT: used italics instead of spoilers there...

    Dragon Quest XI

I'm quite gutted, but this is actually the third time i've abandoned this game. The first time was because I got Xenoblade. The second time was because I got my Wii U. Now i'm looking at a growing backlog of games, including Monster Hunter 3.

It's a really good game. It has a big retro RPG feel to it and each town it's own story that develops and pushes on the main story. The multiplayer is a great addition and had I not restarted 3 times, I would have completed it with my girlfriend over the next few days.

Unfortunately, if I leave an RPG too long, I can't bring myself to continue where I left off. Even if we're talking 20 - 30+ hours. I have to start again.

I strongly recommend it though. A really good game.

    Gungrave: OverDose

There's not a lot wrong with GG:oD, for the most part it's good arcadey shoot everything fun. But I just cannot get past the stage 4 boss(es) no matter how hard I try and fuck starting again on easy to just finish the game when I've other stuff to play.

    Persona 4 (Vita)

Was really enjoying it until I got to a cheap, 1 hit kill boss and decided I couldn't be arsed anymore.

    Bioshock Infinite

Wish I understood what all the fuss is about.

Well I've given up on boarderlands 2 again I just can't sit down and enjoy it, something just doesn't click and Masseffect 3 is another game I've given up with as well, already sunk 15 hours or so into it but just bring myself to complete it after having it sit there for months on end not being touched. Shame as I enjoyed the first two.

    Xbox, Steam - DuvaDan
    3DS 4639-9278-1687
    Feel free to add me

I also have no clue what the story is about. Just waffle. If this is considered one of the best stories in gaming you know the statement about even porn has better story than most games is true.
Just wtf. Sorry if you couldn't understand it but that doesn't make it a bad story. You just weren't concentrating.
On metacritic it has a score of 96, the 8 scores still all say it is one of the best told stories in gaming.

Well if metacritic says so it must be true.

Metacritic says nothing. It tells you what the journalists think, but you know this, you're just being a prick.

Heavy Rain makes good use of QTEs. Also, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Dead Space 1 = Fucking awesome,
Dead Space 2 = Pretty fucking good,
Dead Space 3 = Not very good at all.

Who cares what other people say, believe in your own opinion. If you believe that that shitty Dead Space 3 game with the laughable plot has an amazing story, good for you.
(Edit: Sorry, I got confused by DarkSpaceDS' name, I thought people were saying that Dark Space 3 was a 10/10 game -> I'm sorry!)

I am very very VERY close to giving up on Jak II. This game is SOOOOO fucking bad. It's only sheer stubbornness keeping me in the mix. I'm trying to take out 5 hellcats, and it is hellishly frustrating. The driving controls are shit. if you get taken down once, chances are you're done, the shooting controls are all over the place, the streets are really narrow and densely populated with exploding cars and turrets and enemies. Seriously, whoever had the idea to do a GTA on Jak and Daxter... /rages

I'm not telling people they are wrong for enjoying the game or anything. I'm just sharing my experience of it. I'm just not seeing what's so amazing about it. It's certainly functional and the city is imaginative but mechanically it feels like every other FPS and the story/characters are doing nothing for me thus far.
