Havent abandoned anything recently, but in the last six months i've abandoned the following :

Saints Row 3 - Dont know why, just didnt grab me at all, despite my love for Sandbox games. GTA, Red Dead and Sleeping Dogs have all impressed me greatly, SR3 didnt sit well for some reason.

Metro 2033 - Again, not sure why. I love FPS's, especially ones that try to wrap a good story around the gameplay. I could appreciate the quality on display, but it just didnt click for me. I have re-bought it though and i do plan to give it another chance.

Assassins Creed Revelations - I've followed the series from the start. I enjoyed the first game, LOVED the second one, LOVED Brotherhood......gave up on this about half way through. Think i just got bored of being the same character and doing the same things in slightly different places. I will pick it up again at some point though....

Prototype 2 - Played and finished the first game, thought it was great. Started this, but didnt finish it. Again, i think i just got bored of doing the same thing over and over again. The story didnt grab me either.

Dead Rising 2 - To be fair, i abandoned the first game too - that was years ago though. Didnt get as far with this one though, VERY similar to the first game and i lost interest quite quickly.

I loved Metro 2033 right up until I got trapped in a tunnel and couldn't fight or sneak my way out.

I found it too frustrating tbh. Didn't finish it either.

I hated Metro 2033 at first. The Ranger Pack changed all of that. Metro 2033 is as close to survival horror that a FPS can get. Trust me, Ultrasoundwave. You will want to see this one through to the end...

I haven't abandoned it yet, but I bought Jade Empire just this weekend on Steam (never did play it first time round) and I'm thinking of slinging it already, after only about four hours. The combat is either a shambles or I'm just bloody terrible at it - either way, the fights are far too hard and extremely tedious. Shame, as I really like the setting.

Don't! You're missing nothing. You've already seen the best thing, which is that it all looks rather nice. Ezio is reduced to a cipher. The plot was written by a miserable intern. The 'climax' is utterly unclimactic. The whole thing is cynical production-line fan-gouging, to keep the franchise looking healthy on the balance-sheet until the next major effort. It's all just... yuk.

it's the weakest of the series so far and the closest i came to giving up on one - stuck with it to the end, though, and retrospectively i'm glad i did...

oh, and metro 2033 is ace, imo...

I have finally made the decision after two weeks of not playing, and being honest with myself, I'm not going to, so have sent back Skyrim, therefore abandoned.

Got sonic generations from lovefilm today and thinking about sending it back already.

    It's shite.

Rayman Origins. I love 2D platformers - I love the look of the game...but, it all just feels a little too 'try-hard wacky'.

Half an hour in, and it's irritating the shit out of me.

@iHAZaCHEEZ3burger Really? That's on my list too, I thought it would be a nice change of pace. I thought it got generally good reviews too. What's so bad?

@caligari - You have no soul! Rayman Origins is a wonderful game! :p

I realise I shouldn't be trying to change peoples opinions of games in this thread, so I'll stop now :)

Rahman origins was brilliant for the first few hours, but I found it incredibly repetitive after a while.

I wouldn't have said shite, but I didn't get on with it either.

I'm not a huge Sonic fanboy, but I just didn't think this came anywhere near the quality of the megadrive originals.

I put it on my list for that exact reason, and while it is a change of pace it's just not very good.

The screen on the 2d screen isn't big enough to see what's coming next and it feels like you're not even in control during the 3d sections.

I thought Sonic Generations was awful. The bosses are terrible and the later levels are very poor.

I thought some of the early 2D levels were actually very good and even the early 3D ones were ok. But it goes downhill fast after the first boss.

Sonic Generations is much better after the first attempt on each level when you start to explore the different paths and aren't screwed by some of the cheap obstacles as you know when to expect them.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

One of my favourite games, and played it twice, but I agree the combat has issues. If I remember correctly I did a lot of hit and run and seemed to get through that way. If you can get round it its worth playing through, anyway.

    Oblivion
I'm done with this game. Elves, dragons, orcs. No more. Please. I can't stand it anymore. I just don't care. Where's 'The Wasteland'? Someone get me Fallout 4. Stat.

    Or Skyrim?

    Or Morrowind?

Oblivion was a pretty huge dissapointment for me.

    Darksiders 2

What can I say, I just can't get on with this. Thought the first Darksiders was good fun but Death feels slower and far less agile than War. The camera is annoying and the quests are very lack luster.

    Spec Ops:The Line.

Played on hard up until the water tanker escort part when i gave up on it.After seeing bad guys getting hit with grenades and carrying on as if nothing happened was the straw that broke the camels back.

Coupled that with enemy's that have infinite supplies of nades and your inability to come unstuck from walls when you really need to was an exercise in frustration. Also your squad mates are supposed to be Delta operators but act like retards who you have to try and revive every 5 god damn minutes.

    Shit game.

Nerf paper, scissors are fine as they are. - Rock.

Sleeping Dogs. I put in around 5 hours or so and I just don't get the praise. It just seems boring and shallow, no character. Think I'll be trading it in for something next week.

I nearly gave up on chrono trigger last night. I'm on the last boss and his first attack can wipe out my whole party before I've even had a turn.

But I think I will stick with it. Going to try and do a few of the side quests and level up a bit more and get better armour.

I did manage to survive for a while by messing about with my items and party members so shouldn't be impossible. I was hoping to finish this so I could move on to the stacks of rpgs I've bought on the psp I've just bought...

    Borderlands

admittedly have only been playing single player but I just can't see the appeal. boring environment, go to gang hideout kill all bad guys rinse and repeat. Plus the fact that if you attempt to attack an enemy gang who are slightly higher level than you then your guns are more like pea shooters it just doesn't feel right in a shooter/rpg

Dont kid yourself, Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, hed eat you and everyone you care about!

Diablo III - Got to Belial and died. Usually would spend a bit of time at this point either trying to figure out how to beat it or just look at a walkthrough but something in me just stopped caring.

There really doesn't seem to be much point in progressing. Loot drops have been 99% boring and useless so I essentially know that I'll not get anything much interesting in the next level. The lore is predictably predictable and the acting is all very seen it before.

I'm not really abandoning it but some fights in the story mode of Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition are tough as balls... I had to resort to the same type of cheap ass moves as my adversary (especially Shao Kahn) in order to win. Just a bit frustrated, is all.

@Afiddes I'm not a big fighting game fan to be honest (the last one I played before MK9 was Tekken 3...) and I don't think I can take such harsh punishment :D Still, practice makes perfect, I guess?
