Not sure what I'd class The Maw as nowadays, but in old money it'd be an arcade-adventure: can't remember the last time I saw that genre label applied though! Definitely not a platformer, a platformer needs much more of a focus on accurate jumping imo.

I really enjoyed it too. It was a bit easy, but as it came out when I was stuck on the other games I had on the go, it was exactly what I needed at the time!

Popcap this week. Again. Microsoft studios next week, again.

    Nelson update.

More interesting is the Sega sale, which seems to be open to anyone. Renegade Ops is currently up for 320msp, there's probably loads more stuff in there too.

Dunno, to me any third-person game that doesn't feature shooting = platformer. It might not be a platformer in the strictest sense of the word, but very few 3D games are nowadays. And by that reasoning BK most certainly wasn't a platformer either!

Mmmm, if you've got points on a Hungarian account, Sonic: Generations on GoD is less than £3 in points (assuming it's not IP-locked). £5 on a Mexican account (which would accept Paypal).

Played through Toy Soldiers recently and it's a fun experience, worth 400 points if you're into your strategy games. It can be completed in 5-6 hours so good value if you ask me.

Good stuff, been waiting for The Cave to drop for a while now. Be rude not to get Renegade Ops at that price too. As a massive bonus I have exactly 920 points in my account at the moment. :)

Though, I'll probably need to get more as there's a new Magic coming out. When are they switching over to real money again?

I've never played a Sonic game, but for £1 or so, I could be tempted.

Which is the best one to pick up?

Virtua Fighter 5 for 400 MS points is an absolute steal. Best fighting game on any console right now.

Is NiGHTS (into dreams) worth playing, even though I have never played the Sega Saturn classic?

Oh, and for those of you who have never played Condemned ... be nice to yourself and buy it!

    Those mannequins ...

I've tried the demos for both Nights and Daytona with absolutely no nostalgia for either game last time they were on sale, and was deeply unimpressed with both.

I'll be repeating the trick with Guardian Heroes and Space Channel 5 this time, hopefully with a bit more success.
  • Deleted user 19 June 2013 10:40:04
Cant help thinking there are going to be some great deals over the next few months.

I wonder if XBLA games will be included in the new 2 free games a months for gold subscribers thing?

    demos tried...

Space Channel 5 is fantastic, and was purchased immediately. Kitsch-y rhythm action Japanese odd-ness that really grabbed me. Basically Parappa the Rapper only with a dancing pink haired girl as the hero. Well worth trying the demo anyway, I loved it.

Sonic 2 has not dated well, and with no nostalgia driving a purchase, it's definitely not for me.

Couldn't quite decide about Guardian Heroes though, so will give the demo a second try at some point. I don't own any fighting / beat em up type games, and feel I probably should, so maybe that'll just nudge me over the edge.

The SEGA deals are decent though I've picked up most of those in previous half price sales.

The only purchase was the ridiculously cheap Guardian Heroes. Wasn't blown away by the demo but for that price it seemed rude not to buy a title so many regard as a classic.

    Why look, it's a blog:

The Sega sale is awesome. Picked up Sonic CD, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles... How can you pass them up at 160 points? That works out as... pretty much no money.

Also going to try out Virtua Fighter 5.

@Bahamafish Yep it is. It's the best modern Sonic game I've played.

If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

Tempted by Condemned or Virtua Fighter.

I only have 1000 points so I can't get both.

Does Virtua Fighter have a single player campaign at all?

Is it Virtua fighter 5 or Virtua Fighter 5: Final showdown?

There's just about no single player in Final showdown and it's sadly dead online (at least when I tried about 6 months ago). It's a shame, because VF5 is my favorite fight game in this gen.

Picked up space channel, guardian heroes and bass fishing all for 160 points each. Sega bass fishing isn't as good without the rod
