Just wanted to say thanks to all of those who sang the praises of Mark of the Ninja, would have never gone near it on the little I knew but after reading the EG love I picked it up in the current sale and absolutely loving it so far!!!

The only thing that puts me off Mark of the Ninja is the art style. I despise it, much like their other effort Shank's artwork. It's like the horrific Cartoon Network idea of animation and styling. It was passable in the late 90s with 1 or 2 cartoons (Dexter's Lab and such) but now it's mainstream it makes me want to hurt things. I just can't stand the angular faces and awkward movements that the style brings with it. It's a shame as everyone on here praises it but I'd feel dirty playing it and know all I'll do is whine about how it looks.

If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

Shame you feel that way, is there a demo to try for MotN? It is quite a dark, shadowy game and you aren't really that close to the animation for it to be a problem in my eyes.

The cut-scenes in MotN are fairly minimal, for the most time you're viewing things from a very zoomed-out point of view so you can't really see the angular faces and such. And for my money it looks lovely, all shadows and whatnot. Brilliant game, too!

@L_Franko Yeah there is. I should try it really. I'm using the backlog excuse as another reason not to get it. I'm told myself I have to finish 7 games before I even consider buying another. I still haven't finished Fez and I bought that last year.

Sod it, I'll get the trial later.

@Blerk If they're minimal that might help sway me. S'funny. I don't usually let the art style bother me so much but for some reason I just can't get on with that particular one.

If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

It's still annoying how the current forum code doesn't let you reply to two people in one post.

I've now spent a bit more time with Pool Nation, and really enjoying it so far.

    Well worth 400 points certainly!

I see what you mean about the art style, I'm not a fan of it either. Especially in cut-scenes, the style doesn't exactly sit well with the dark and sombre nature of the game.

However, in-game it's not really an issue, as the action is zoomed out and the game is based around hiding in the shadows. It's actually quite gorgeous looking at times. too. Certainly don't let it put you off playing one of XBLA's best games.

The awful, awful D&D: Daggerdale is free on the Indian marketplace at the moment (in case you missed it when it was free on the Taiwanese marketplace).

I've just noticed Hydro Thunder Hurricane is on sale at half price, 600msp.  That's a bargain, cracking game in single or multiplayer, rammed with content, and there's a free version of the dlc which lets you play the bonus maps and boats as long as someone in the lobby has the paid for version.

    Errrr... What?

This gets on XBLA, but so many good titles are forced onto the Indie Channel just because they don't have a publisher.

Spent endless amount of 10p's in the arcades back in the day on Double Dragon. For me that's where it should stay.

Just back from town with 1600 pints and had them spent within 30 seconds of redeeming the code - ilomilo, Guardian Heroes and Fez.

My disc based stuff is barely getting a look in!

Bought myself Minecraft and Dust yesterday, a lot of game time in those two titles.

I hardly scratched the surface of Minecraft but put just over 3 hours into Dust. Loving it, it looks awesome and plays really well. It does seem to have some harsh lag every now and then though which is a weak point but not game breaking.

And as if by magic, a Major Nelson round-up appears. Covers this week and next week's Gold deals and some other releases and stuff.

The discounts appear to be getting a little bigger at least, but the selection is still somewhat limp.

    Forgive formatting:

    9-Apr to 15-Apr
Prince of Persia Classic 400 (50% off)
    Counterstrike GO 600 (50% off)
    Real Steel 320 (60% off)
    Battlefield 1943 600 (50% off)
    Dungeon Defenders 480 (60% off)
Realms of Ancient War 480 (60% off)
    Marvel vs. Capcom 2 600 (50% off)
Marvel vs. Capcom Origins 600 (50% off)
Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection 400 (50% off)

    16-Apr to 22-Apr

    I Am Alive 480 (60% off)
Gotham City Impostors 600 (50% off)
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 200 (75% off)
    Warhammer® 40,000®: Kill Team™ 320 (60% off)
Lara Croft The Guardian of Light 600 (50% off)
HELL YEAH! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit 480 (60% off)
Bionic Commando Rearmed 320 (60% off)
    Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 480 (60% off)
Black Knight Sword 400 (50% off)

I'd recommend I Am Alive at 480msp. Think I paid 600-800 in a previous sale and it was well worth that.

GW:RE2 for 200msp is a an absolute fucking bargain.

Any opinions on 'Warhammer' and 'Hell Yeah!'?

I'm convinced Guardian Of Light is some kind of in-joke at Microsoft!!! ;P

"Hell yeah" is a funny, colorful, side-scroll, semi-platform game; I've enjoyed it, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I'll probably get Black Knight Sword next week...
