So, remember how we were all saying how MS can 'do one' if they don't allow for transfer of XBLA titles from 360 to the Next Xbox.... well that's looking like more of a distinct possibility now given that you won't be able to transfer PSN purchases to PS4: article on Edge

Some chance Sony might permit some streaming functionality (hardly ideal), but other than that it's not possible. I fear we'll have a similar thing with MS's next console.

Now, the question is whether we'll see 'updated' versions of those titles available for purchase on the new systems...

    Why look, it's a blog:

Sony were forced into their decision by the change in hardware, but there's been plenty of talk about the 720 hardware being 'similar enough' to enable emulation of previous gen games so I wouldn't panic just yet.

    @Blerk

I hope so. Would be a big incentive for me sticking with MS in the next gen if I can roll my digital library to the new machine...

Same here. Especially since I still have so many sales bought games to start yet too!

Could it be a possibility to have the already purchased games ready to re-download for free onto the next Xbox from the new market place?

I'm sure it will if the games are available on the new marketplace.

The only way that will happen, however, is if MS do have good software emulation already to go for the XBLA back catalogue. If not, the games won't even be there. If they go down that route they may just pick out a few select "XBLA classic(TM)" titles like Trials and Shadow Complex et al.

The next Xbox having good to full integration of my current digital library is a massive thing.

Fuck achievements, gamertags et al. I want my games. Guardians of Middle Earth already looks shit: I don't care if it looks shitter on the next thing.

If by tomorrow you mean later today, then yes.

PenguinJim helpfully posted in the Games On Demand thread that apparently the discounts are going to be staggered over the week, to increase the chances of you missing the ones you want to buy, and to generally get in the way of the chances of anyone saving money.

@agparrot - Microsoft don't really understand sales, do they?

I fancy picking on MGS: Peace Walker. It's 1440 msp at the moment, a 50% discount would do nicely

    Morning early-birds,

Seems that some Halo games have already marked down at this early stage, and typically, the stuff that's downpriced to 800MSP in the US, rings up as 1040MSP in the UK...

Halo Reach is 840 msp in Germany. Would be slightly interested if I hadn't played it yet. For today's other offers... well, let's see what tomorrow brings.

Just noticed that Dance Central 2 is reduced in the US, but not in Germany. It's €49.99. Quite curious, since I bought it for €19.99/1680MSP just a few months after release. Wasn't a sale or anything, maybe a misprice.

    *sighs*

    How do they justify that?

Surely a nice rounded sum of 1000 points would be better, see as we pay 20% tax?

Has anyone played Kung Fu Strike? I noticed it last night and thought some of the videos looked quite fun.

Don't eat the bullshit pie! As don't the Yanks pay tax too? And don't the different countries across the EU (which will surely all have to pay that 1040 price) will have differing tax rules?

Also, don't forget that the points themselves are more expensive for us to buy too. So how are they going to argue that they have to tax something which effectively already been bought.

So don't fall for the tax bullshit. It's simple stealth rip-off tactics, which are arguably as bad as the Starbucks, Amazon, etc scandal.

Some games are cheaper in the UK than the US, y'know. MGS Peacewalker is 1440 in the UK, 1600 in the US, for example.

It was on sale for a few months and then got pulled for some reason. I had the demo but never got round to buying it - wish I had now as it was really pretty good. If it ever comes back I will buy it.

Exactly. So tax can't be the reason.

Do these deals appear on the dashboard? Is there a list of them anywhere?

I would imagine that the publishers choose whatever price they want. And then MS doubles it.

Oh right, that sucks. Fingers crossed it is released again then as it does look fun.

If it's not too late, you might just wanna grab a Games on Demand code from somewhere like eBay, as it's been an add-in game. Looks like about a tenner at the moment (a bit higher than it used to be).

Say if I created a German account (UK based) and slapped down the points for it, would it work? I fear the 'This item isn't available from your current location' message as it does with a US account.

It's 990Ft in Hungary, which is about £3. Hungary tends to have ridiculously low GoD prices. Sometimes the xbox.com site is picky about your region, but your console shouldn't have the same problem. For example, I couldn't buy El Shaddai from the US on the website a couple of hours ago, but it worked through my console.
